Isn't it just unit 08 whit half of it painted in red?
In the early versions of this scene (Which was showed in a leaflet) it was literally just unit 08 there

I doubt it will look like that in the finished film. It's awfully clean for two Evas Frankensteined into a single one.

^True, the whole thing could get axed. Although I'm still hoping to see a modern-day equivalent of the MPEs (those green Mark.06s look a bit...tame for mass-produced harbingers of death).

At this point the mock-up (which is all these previews ever really are) for the Final movie is almost 2 years old. I'm pretty certain things in the final movie will be drastically different than what little we were shown.

It's been suggested that the Eva shown isn't literally one half 08 and one half 02, but is just Eva-08 with any of 02's useful and still intact enough "components" (e.g., whatever lets it turn into lizards and panthers) integrated. The very designation "8+2" (with 8 placed first, despite being the younger unit) suggests that the Eva is more 08 than 02, as well. The appearance is thus a purely cosmetic homage to the fallen Nigouki (not to mention episode 09).

I won't be surprised if Eva 8+2 shows up in some form in Shin. It needs to keep the title company, after all.

The organic components are probably a nightmarish mish-mash of Unit 08, Unit 02 and freshly grown parts. The armour is just designed that way because WILLE thought it looked cool.

Also, TM_Bountyhunter, you know what you should do? An NGE version of Unit 08. I think all you'd need to do is take a Unit 02 kit, paint it pink and use a different head (Unit 08 Alpha seems to have 02's colour layout but with the red replaced with pink- the arms are exactly the same colours!)

Erm. NGE Unit 08 is an MPE. Mari can have it if she likes, I guess, but I'd expect her to go with Unit 06 instead (since Hikari got Unit 05, poor girl). Either way, Mari and an MPE are a disturbingly good match. :scared:

I always imagined the Eva Series as separate from the "mainline" Evangelions. Also I just want an excuse for the proportions of a TV Eva with the lovely pink and sexy, sexy headsculpt of Rebuild 08.
