...I haven't even been all that interested in it. But it's Eva and has better art than Angelic Days so I'll probably pick up a copy anyway.

As the series progresses, less and less detail goes into Datenroku's artwork.

That's... disappointing. :ehh:

Anyway, Books-A-Million finally came through. I went today and there was a single copy on the shelf, so either it sold well or they only bothered to order a single copy, which I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

It finished in Japan in December 2009 as Volume 4, yes. Volume 1 was only just released in the U.S. this September.

And in regards to details in later volumes... I didn't really notice anything jarring, personally. Some of the backgrounds might not have been as detailed I suppose, but characters have the expressions they're expected to have and such.

I just read the first volume at my local bookstore, and I really, really liked it. The plot line so far has captured my interest and the artwork is just sublime. Even the dialogue was written fairly well. I'm a little disappointed to hear of a quality drop in subsequent volumes, but I'll reserve my own judgment for the actual read.

Previously slated for a December 29 release, DHM's translation of Volume 2 is now expected for release on January 05 2011. A page for their translation of Volume 3 is also up, with an expected release date of March 30 2011. As always, the cover from the original Japanese Volume 3 is retained for the English release, and I suspect A/S supporters will adore it.

I just finished reading the first volume and all I can say is that it was a fun read. It's not the series, but the action is pretty cool and the story was very interesting. It's sad to hear that it doesn't get better afterwards, but the contrary but I'll continue reading anyway.

Volume 2 of the English Translation has been out for a week or so now; I'm not going around much at the moment so I expect I'll get a copy when I can. In the news ahead, Volume 3 is still slated for March 30 while Volume 4 has been announced for June 22. Looking forward to all three >.>

But the manga ended too soon, perhaps because of lack of enough support. 4 volumes is just way too short.

Dark Horse's translation of the fourth volume is still slated for a June 22 release. It's going to be so... I dunno. I feel like the Third Volume let me down, with its simulation-stuff and such.

I agree, they should not have crammed the story into 4 issues.
Such a shame, it was my favorite..... :asuka_sad:

So I just read the first two chapters of this, and I just have to say...

Quick summary of the plot so far:

-Protagonist has a new transfer student in their class
-In an alternate timeline, said transfer student and the protagonist are kinda-maybe a couple (they're close friends at least)
-They also (might be) timekeeping to save the protagonist
-Protagonist quickly learn that several students at his school are in the business of fighting the creatures to gain little balls to prevent the universe from disintegrating into chaos

...I know that Gakuen Datenroku predates Puella Magi Madoka Magica by several years, but I can't help but find the comparisons amusing.

...Shinji, I know how much you want you dad to love you, but it's not worth making a contract with Kyubey. Just don't do it.

SPOILER: Show
is actually a decent father, or at least was one, Gendo actually did died years ago, and the one we see here is a Gendo from another dimension. (maybe even the NGE one!)

Did anyone else notice the Magic Knight Rayearth references in this? It's one of the Angels, the VR one I think, she looks so much like Alcyone. And there was also the world tree which they called a pillar, and that it is also held up by someone, like in MKR. Anyone think they are references, or am I just seeing things that aren't there?

The tree in Campus Apocalypse is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yggdrasil

I remember Princess Emeraude being the Pillar in Rayearth (never saw season 2 but know about it), though I don't think she was given a name like that.

Probably just similar ideas used in various media, though I can see why you'd think that.

Yeah, it probably is just similar ideas. But when I said the world tree or Yggdrasil, I just said that so you would know what I'm contrasting MKR to, not that I meant Princess Emeraude was called that. I probably should have worded by post better, oops.

No, this thread's about this (U.S. released in 2010) manga http://www.amazon.com/Neon-Genesis-Evangelion-Campus-Apocalypse/dp/1595825304/

I can't find a thread about that video game manga, so I guess there is none yet. Feel free to create one though! ^_^
