I guess so, but what I infer from the trailers this time there's a lot more spectacle and variation in those segments to better mask the routine.
Persona is a dungeon crawler at its heart, but it's always very inventive in its setting and writing was above the standard of JRPGs.
But I guess the biggest draw to this series (for me at least) is that I feel like I experience the most stylish game possible.
Also, it's repetitiveness makes it kinda addicting, with just enough depth to not get boring.

But my last Persona was 10 years ago, when I was a Teenager, so who knows how I'll enjoy it as an adult, now.

At least America has a release date. I get the sinking feeling, I won't be able to play it until Summer 2017, if I don't resort to an import. Releasing it with such big intervals between regions is something I thought we'd have finally left behind.
I get that ATLUS doesn't have the resources of Squenix, but it's still kinda disappointing.

Does the normal game case come? The art on the normal case is nicer than the ugly steel case.

Yes, but there's already some controversy popping up. Apparently they elevated Morgana's head so it covers up the blond girls chest in the American version. They might have also done it, to not have the ESBR sticker covering all of the cat's face, idk. Kinda throws the harmony of the art off-balance, though.

That being said, yeah, the Japanese one's cooler, but it's also much more expensive. But I don't share the sentiment, that the steel case looks ugly. I think it looks rather slick, to be honest.

Still a hell of a lot better than most CEs coming out these days for this price range IMO. At least they didn't just have a Standard Edition for normal price and then jump straight to a $199 CE with a statue in it.

Doesn't look like it. The standard case isn't shown anywhere in the images or mentioned in the text. I greatly prefer the artwork on the steelbook anyways.

Anyhow I just pre-ordered the PS4 Take Your Heart edition on Amazon. Link:

http://www.amazon.com/Persona-PlayStati ... es&sr=1-13

Very excited for this game. The release date works out great for me as well, it's the day before my birthday. ^_^

If it had a nice statue, all 5 soundtracks, and the P3/P4 DLC, I wouldn't mind paying that money. This CE is not interesting.

I'm sad about it. I think it's very bad they force the steelcase on people. I much prefer the regular box and the art on it. Now I will have to sell my game, and re-buy at a later date to get the normal case.

The only Personagame I played was the third one. I never finished it because it got too repetitive for my tastes. At this point in time, JRPGs were still doubling-down on old, worn-out gameplay mechanics while Western RPGs had moved on and improved the genre. Compared to something like The Witcher 3, if Persona is still just a lot of turn-based grinding, it's not something that will appeal much to modern RPG fans. Otaku will love it, though, I'm sure.

Fascinating. I never know what to do with statues, as I'm not confident enough to show my extreme nerdness (at my age) to my guests.
I really could use this slick bag, though. My current one is in the process of falling apart anyways. The P3/P4 DLC would be nice, but I feel like 100 hours of P5 are more than enough time, especially since I've already played the other ones. And for the soundtracks... I don't get the use of CDs nowadays anyways. Important to me is the Soundtrack for 5 and the artbook.

I really don't get, where you're coming from. If you're not interested in the Collector's Edition anyways, just buy the normal edition with the normal artwork. No need to re-buy anything.

All first press release of the game all have the steel case so if you want the standard case you have to wait a bit. But this is only the case for the ps4 version of the game I believe

As for my opinion on recent news sucks game is coming out in February for us but oh well although remaining unspoiled for 6 months will be tough

And I'd be way more hype for the ce if it wasn't for the jp ce lol

^Yup, as someone mentioned, all first print copies come with the steelcase. So if I want the game for my PS4, and I want it on release, I am forced to be stuck with the steelcase :(

I believe the Steel Book Edition is for first day only? So if you manage to wait a few days, you'll get the normal case.
Or
You could order the Japanese CE, and then buy the American Game. Then you have the packaging you want in which you can put in the American version.

Strange, Amazon has the standard edition listed separately from the steelbook edition and the take your heart edition, and all 3 are available for pre-order. Here's a direct link to the standard edition:

Uh, I love that they decided to speed up the beginning. Especially Persona 4 started so slowly, it took more than an hour before all of the basic concepts got introduced.
So thumbs up for increased introduction pace.

Other than that... Why A1, once again? They made FFXV Brotherhood look cheap and P5 already looks rushed as well... Gravity Rush will get an OVA by Khara, which will probably look nice.

But, oh well... At least P5 has finally a confirmation of release for UK&EU! But I fear, it'll happen no sooner than Summer 2017...

Well, this Anime is a cheap OVA, that's all. I'm almost 100% sure later down the road we'll get a proper anime and/or movie for P5.

A bunch of screenshots and social links: http://www.dualshockers.com/2016/07/27/ ... and-menus/

We got some character arcanas on the official website:
SPOILER: Show

I decided to add on all other characters we know and what I think their arcanas will be:
SPOILER: Show
Image

Filling in the banks spots from Left to Right:

0 - The Fool - Protag
VI - Lovers - Anne
XI - Strength - Ryuji
I - Magician - Morgana
IV - Emperor - Yusuke
III - Empress - Makoto
II - Priestess - Haru
IX - Hermit - Sakura
VII - Chariot - Goro
VIII - Justice - Sae (police girl)
XX1 - The World - Dio Brando LMAO! Nahh, I think it'll be the main villain of the game, similar to Adachi and Pharos/Ryoji/Nyx
XX - Judgment - Velvet Twins

...So, uh, this is out now. Kinda expected someone would have already posted about it today...

My Take Your Heart edition was waiting on my doorstep when I got home from work today. Very nice, high-quality stuff inside. Even the box isn't intended to be thrown away. It has magnetic closure, and is made to store all the extras in. Pretty solid, and very nice-looking. Hardcover artbook is beautiful, and so is the steelbook. The only thing I don't like is the soundtrack is in a paper slipcover instead of a jewel case.

As for the game itself, it's pretty good so far. I'm only about an hour in, so the story isn't too exciting yet. The graphics don't exactly strain the PS4's processors either, but with the snazzy art style you really don't even notice that. It's a great-looking game. Gonna play a bit more tonight and try to get past the "tutorial" phase where they drip-feed you stuff you already know how to do.

You can bet I'll be posting about it as soon as I have it, but I don't want to start it until I've finished P4AU. Otherwise, I've been avoiding as much as I can about the game -- including this topic; what I've quoted of your post is just about all I've read of it.

I devote every single free second to this game. As I did with Nier:Automata beforehand. I cannot remember how long it's been I've invested so much of my time into a video game. Oh yeah, FFXV. But before that I haven't even touched a game in 5 years.
Crazy times.
Games good now.
Nier was breathtakingly cool, Persona 5 is amazing. Both have small annoyances. But I'll report, after finishing P5. Which could take a while.

Scrap that, it's like 5 hours until you gain any control over the game, and 20 until it stops introducing new gameplay mechanics.
It's so much fun, that I don't care, tbh.

Your post reminds me that I still need to finish P3 and P4G. -o-; Anyhow there's no spoilers in what I posted earlier, it's just some comments about the CE extras and non-specific comments about the game systems and art style. If I go into details I'll make sure to put them in spoiler tags.

So I'm about 7 hours in...
Dungeon 1 Spoilers!  SPOILER: Show
I just got Ann on my team, and we're getting ready to take Kamoshida down. Morgana said he could die as a result of us destroying his desires, but after he raped Shiho and physically abused the young men training under him, I really don't give a damn what happens to this fucker. Hopefully whatever happens to him is extremely painful.

I learned how to obtain new personas, and I've got to say I really dislike the new system where you have to hold up and interrogate shadows to turn them into personas. The card drop system from Persona 4 was so much more convenient. I also dislike the frequent flash-forward scenes where the game rips me out of the action and puts me in a cell being interrogated by the SIU. I hate the damn cop shows on network television, and now I've got one popping in every 30 minutes and ruining my immersion in an otherwise perfectly good Persona game. It's like the lame future story crap that has infected the Assassin's Creed series ever since it began. Really sad to see P5 going this route, and I would pay for an option to turn off all of the interrogation scenes.

Other than that, I'm really enjoying the game. I still like P3 and P4 better at the moment, but P5 is growing on me.

More Dungeon 1 Spoilers  SPOILER: Show
Ok so we took down Kamoshida and he confessed to his crimes in front of the whole school during an assembly, it was fucking golden! The distorted desires we stole from him turned into a gold medal, which I hocked at the shady airsoft shop for 30,000 yen. Then Ann took us to this fancy hotel with a massive buffet where we pigged out, and this happened:

Ann and Ryuji: "Ok, so what should we name our Phantom Thief group? *text input screen pops up*"
Me: "Nasal Fungus."
Ann: "Huh, that's actually not bad."
:w00t: :guffaw:  :hitthetable:  :peace:

The killer thing is, that group name will actually show up in the online mode.
