SPOILER: Show
The pay rate for teachers in Tokyo can't be that bad can it?

Then again, given this school let a gym teacher get away with molesting/violating underage girls (and they ARE underage, even by Japans standards) I guess I shouldn't be surprised in the slightest. But you've gotta admit, giving your character the option to solicit your teacher, to be your 'personal sexy maid'. Pretty creepy. Even more creepy given she's in her mid twenties, Akira is about 16-17, the first villain of the game Kamoshida is a PEDOPHILE.

I know Japan has a different culture when it comes to age of consent, but HOLY CRAP ATLUS. HOLY CRAP.

That awkward moment when you and your buddies solicit a prostitute, and it's your homeroom teacher.

What the FACK Atlus? WHAT THE ACTUAL FACK!?

SPOILER: Show
LOL, oh man I can't wait to get to that part. Protagonist: "Teacher, you've given us B's and C's as part of your day job. *Throws money on table and drops pants.* Now we've come for an F." :devil:

Anyhow, moving on...

Dungeon 2 Spoilers  SPOILER: Show
I've just finished the Museum palace and taken Madarame down, because nobody gets away with the crap he pulled once Senpai Kun and the Nasal Fungus find out about it.
That heist at the end was really freaking cool, probably my favorite part of the game so far. I hope there's more like that later on. Yusuke was a real piece of shit before he joined us, but he's turning out to be a decent guy now. For a while I was thinking I was gonna have to steal his distorted desires as well. Can't wait to see Madarame confess. I've done some exploring in Mementos and taken down 3 targets there as well, I really like how this game has both P3 and P4's dungeon types in it.

SPOILER: Show
Ok so the maid thing happened, 2 days earlier than I was expecting. Oh good lord that was fucking hilarious, I'll definitely be doing her... social link. :tongue:

I'm eagerly awaiting the time when I can start going for a romantic relationship with one of the P5 ladies. Not sure who it's going to be, though. The girl I was planning to make my P5 waifu (Makoto) unfortunately is starting to look like she's the fink who sold me out at the beginning of the game and got me arrested. Not interested in Ann. Futaba? Maybe. Definitely not Haru though, being rich is a huge turn-off for me. I wanted to date Shiho (Kinda hate myself for saying that, but it's true. I can't resist the moe.), but it doesn't look like she'll be returning. If Makoto does turn out to be the fink, and we can date ladies outside the high school, I'll probably go for Tae Takemi. I don't usually go for punk doctors, but damn, teasing me with that Rei haircut and dem perfect legs every time I go to the clinic...! I've got a clinical trial I want her to take part in! :naughty:

MAKOTO! :heart:  SPOILER: Show
Ok it looks like I was wrong about Makoto, thankfully. After the little incident with her sister, and her positive reaction to the whole metaverse/phantom thieves thing, I really don't see her selling us out. My new theory is that the police got ahold of Mishima and he squealed on us. He's a nice guy, but doesn't seem like the type who could stand up to torture like the police use in this game. Anyhow, back to Makoto and why she is best girl:

Man I absolutely love this chick! Bold and fearless to the point of it becoming a problem. Strong and independent without being bitchy or rubbing it in you face. She doesn't go on and on about being a strong and independent woman, she radiates it. She owns it. She's a little bit intimidating, but not enough to be scary or be a turn-off. The faint aura of menace she exudes is actually exciting and makes you want to follow her instructions. She's a born leader in the vein of The Twelve Kingdoms' Youko Nakajima/Queen Kei, but a little bit spicier than her. Did I mention she has a motorcycle persona that uses nuclear-elemental attacks?

This spoiler contains my opinion about Makoto.
SPOILER: Show
Makoto is the biggest positive surprise in this game. She really is awesome. I thought she was going to be a bitchy bore - but I couldn't have been more wrong.

So, what do you guys think, did they botch the translation?
I am not a native speaker, but lots of dialogue seems rather stilted/weird to me. I suspect the translation team translated the lines out of order, because often times dialogue doesn't really connect between one speech bubble and the next. The flow seems really off at times - which is sad, considering how much care the Japanese version put in to make the dialogue flow well. Additionally, each character's way of talking is distinct in the Japanese version, which is not really the case in the English version.
Those failings are regrettable, but since I'm having the option to choose the Japanese voices, I don't feel too strongly about it.
I can live with a functional translation, even when a lot of the flair is lost due to it. What I think is rather unforgivable is the fact that there are many lines that straight up don't make any sense. In some cases, I kind of knew what they were meant to be saying but had to read twice or three times to process what they mean.

In any case, I think the English voice over has to be applauded, considering they had to make those lines work - and passed with flying colors. The cast did amazing work, alleviating the failings of the script to a point where it almost doesn't become apparent.

I also am not happy about the Premium Edition.
- I knew that the Premium Edition wouldn't be mindblowing, considering the price point;
- But the school-bag is manufactured horrendously. It already fizzles;
- The OST has only a bare-bones selection of tracks and comes in a card-board slip;
- The Morgana-plushy looks like something packaged into a happy meal;
- The artbook is ok, but I've ordered the thankfully translated full version coming in July, so this Artbook is quite unnecessary;
- The steel book is fine.
Less is more. Package the full OST, or a full Artbook. Or give us the cute Morgana Hoodie, that you gave out as a promotional item in the US. That one at least doesn't look like it was produced for 1 cent per piece.
Compared to the utterly gorgeous Nier:Automata SE, this box is a disgrace.

^That's why I got the regular steelbook edition. I noticed over the years that these premium editions come with more and more unnecessary junk that I don't need. The quality of the stuff isn't too great either if the premium edition is under $200.

On another note, did everyone beat the game? Thoughts?
I thought it was a great game but it didn't surpass P4. I'm excited for P5Golden and the spin-off P5Arena games, although I think I realized that the formula finally got a little repetitive for my taste. Hoping they will re-invent the series with P6 and inject something new into the franchise like they did with P3 back in the day.

Yeah, I only got the steelbook edition because I'm a sucker for steelbooks but it's a rarity when the premium editions get my attention. I have them for Halo Reach, FFXIV Heavensward, and XV but more often than not it's a waste. Especially when it comes to the OST. Either package at LEAST half the full OST or don't bother at all. 12-14 tracks is an insult.
Please just call me Ian, "TheFrisky" is more of a title.

Eh, the only beef I have with the CE is how the soundtrack is packaged in a cardstock slipcase instead of a proper jewel case. Other than that, I'm satisfied with what I got for an extra $20. I do agree that some CEs are getting out of hand in terms of price versus content, though. That FFXV Ultimate CE that cost over $250 and the Last Guardian CE that was just the game and a Trico statue for $120 come to mind. One company that I think does CEs right is XSEED, notably the limited run physical copies of the Senran Kagura games they localize.

I haven't finished P5 yet, I got about 30-40 hours in before the endless grind started getting to me. I do like the game a lot, but not as much as P3 or P4. To me it has the least appealing setting out of the three (good Rei I miss Inaba now), but I do appreciate the variety of locations P5 offers compared to previous entries. I just wish you could run around in them all instead of a lot of them being event-only. I'm also not a fan of the soundtrack. The BGM tends to have a downbeat theme that, when combined with the heavy use of red and black, creates an unsettling and depressing mood. IMO that's not good for a game you have to spend so much time playing. One thing I really like, though, is how they utilized both P3 and P4's dungeon types in the same game. The overall art style is also top-notch and highly polished.

Now everything else is on hold until I finish Star Ocean 3 HD, which I plan to have done by the end of the week since I'm on vacation. After that's done, I'll be alternating between P5 and FFXV until FFXII Zodiac Age and Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash are released this summer. Hopefully I'll have XV done by then at least, maybe P5 as well.

IMO it blows P4 out of the water in virtually every aspect (save for maybe localization), but to each their own.

In any case... I'm eagerly anticipating Persona 5 Dancing All Night on Nintendo Switch, haha.

I'm almost there. This is by far the best entry I've played (P3&P4). The dungeons alone are such a step up from the previous games, save for the presentation and the fact that I like big cities more as a setting. But I'll withhold my final judgement, for when I've beat it.

I've had to put it off because of commitments to other games and school . . . But I am planning to sooner rather than later.

I recently resumed my playthrough.
SPOILER: Show
I've just started on Futaba's Pyramid dungeon. The pace is starting to pick up, the higher mechanisms of the plot are starting to grind into motion, and I'm getting more into the game than I was previously. I'm still not as into the characters as I was into P4's cast. The party members in P5 seem less developed and less believable than the ones in P4, although they aren't badly written at all. I'm having a hard time getting attached to any of them except Makoto. The others react way too predictably to everything that comes up, whereas she has personality quirks that result in some unexpected reactions to certain situations. I did not see her reaction coming when the power went out at Sojiro's house! :lol: She seems to have a lot more depth to her character. Really, some of the side characters (Tae Takemi and Sadayo "Becky" Kawakami) got better writing/more development than most of the party members so far.

By the way, I've been ordering maid service and loving it! :tongue: Definitely one of my favorite social links. Sucks that it costs 5,000 yen each time, but hey, I'm sitting on nearly 2 mil so it's not like I can't afford it.

Overall I now like the game more than P3, but still not as much as P4.
