The Official Persona 5 website has been updated with a countdown to May 5. Given the past countdowns Atlus has presented, this particular countdown will most likely present the release date in Japan and perhaps another gameplay trailer. There is also a rumor that the release will be between August 18th and September 30th due to a Japanese blog called ore-no-web4th. The blog is known for information leaks and retail connections, and between the release of Tales of Bersia and Final Fantasy 15 is a placeholder called "Yellow children's umbrella" which features the “Chikyu Sentai Fiveman”, a Japanese Tokusatsu show, on it. The fiveman can be a reference to Persona 5 and the Persona series has a fictional Tokusatsu show called Phoenix Ranger Featherman R. As far as an English release is concerned, Atlus USA will probably release information about that at E3.

Releasing P5 so shortly before FFXV seem like a rather big gamble to me.

Early August would be alright, just 2 months before XV. I wouldn't mind it. (I am annoyed that crappy tales game is coming out in the summer)

Well at least they finally announce something! I was starting to get worried about the game.

By the way, I'm going back on what I said before in this topic about buying multiplatform games for the PS3 or Vita instead of the PS4. As a result of personal experience I now prefer the PS4 versions, if only for the increased framerate and resolution. Didn't realize how much of a difference it made until I played Senran Kagura: Estival Versus on PS4 after playing Shinovi Versus on Vita.

Personally, it depends on online for me. I don't have PS+ , sooooooooo if a game has good online and it's on PS3, I get it on PS3. But since this is persona, maybe no online, so maybe I'll get it on PS4.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKZtJmt85ns Here have another trailer, Japanese release date of September 15th.

Basically, September will be the month that JRPG's take the next step of their evolution.
I mean, predictability is the central attraction and the narrative hook that we've all come to expect from the Evangelion franchise. How come Anno can't realize this? Twice? - FreakyFilmFan4ever

During the stream, Three new tracks were revealed from the game's soundtrack, The first song is from the first dungeon, but the other two are not confirmed so far. I would guess that the last two could be the town themes for night and day respectively.

My hype is still strong, but the new characters feel very boring. But I trust Atlus to make them people I care about and not just cute righteous girl // cute hacker girl.

Kick-ass trailer!!! Certainly got me hyped! I love the new biker chick. It looks like all the costumes have been overhauled as well, I'm so glad they got rid of the blonde girl's devil tail. I'm pre-ordering as soon as they announce a US release and CE.

Biker girl is already best girl.

Here's a Gematsu article that details the CE contents in case anybody's curious:

http://gematsu.com/2016/05/persona-5-la ... th-trailer

I'm really interested in that huge soundtrack. It also says the next P5 info will be at E3. Most likely we'll get the US release date then.

Yup, I'm glad the new trailer confirmed more of the main cast. Biker chick is cool, strong independent type, my fav. Glasses hacker is bait. And the curly hair girl is alright too. It all depends on the personality really, so I trust we'll like them more for who they are.

Battle main menu is cool, graphics are basically Catherine, and the free roam looks more open - the game is looking great. Now it comes down to the story, if it's memorable. I'm trying to be positive.

Hah, no thanks. Being rich is a turnoff for me. I will admit that the axe/grenade launcher combo sounds awesome, though.

Best game opening ever lmao!

It certainly is quite original.

CEs have also been announced! I'm getting that Take Your Heart Edition. That's a good amount of stuff for $89 US.

And there I was, hoping 2 years of delay will at least bring the Western release date closer to the Japanese one. Boy, was I wrong. I mean, yeah, it makes sense to put it far away from FFXV time-wise, but still... And the worst thing is, there's no talks about bringing it to Europe...

CE looks dope as hell, though. Much better content than the FFXV one, and much more bang for your buck.

ATLUS lied again... They said 2016. Liars.

The CE looks like crap by comparison to the Japanese edition, ew.

Does the normal game case come? The art on the normal case is nicer than the ugly steel case.
