Persona 5

It was announced this morning, Nov 24th, that P5 will release in Winter 2014 for PS3. Its been almost six long years since the debut of P4 on the PS2 and we're finally getting a new main entry in the series!

The phrase in the trailer reads,

"You are slave"
"Want Emancipation?"

So I assume the game will have some sort of prison, oppression or confinement theme going along school life? Interesting. I also assume the color for the game is red (based on the preview)

Exactly lol. I told my friend to keep his PS3 even though he got the PS4, and now he's saying that it was the best advice I gave him in his life

This scenario is all too familiar, P4 came to PS2 in 2008, when the new consoles were both already out. It would be an amazing Sony exclusive if it did eventually receive a PS4 port though. I also have no clue why xbox owners are complaining, Persona was always a Sony franchise. Aside from Catherine, I don't think any other game came to the xbox. No surprise that P5 is Sony exclusive.

Hope this'll be good. :) I greatly enjoyed P3 and P4 (though the P4 anime sucked at the end).

And, uh, wouldn't most people keep their previous consoles anyway, since they're rarely backwards compatible? Showing my age, but lots of folks kept their NES when SNES came out.

^Mhm, thats my reaction as well. However, believe it or not, people sell the old consoles fairly fast. In fact, I already heard certain people refer to the previous gens Ps3 and 360 as "old last gen crap" -o-;

I never sell consoles, still have every single one I bought as a kid~

On a different note, I like the red as the game's main color

I also wonder if Sho from Arena 2 might make an appearance in P5, I mean the hair color matches :coffee:

LOL Nope!

I'm still waiting for FF15 until I get a ps4 :irked:

P5 was developed from the ground up for ps3, so there wont be any differences on the 2 consoles. If anything, it will probably look 'bad' on ps4 in comparison to games that were made for next gen hardware from the ground up (graphically speaking). So my ps3 still has life in it!!

On another note, the protagonist looks older. It would be interesting if maybe he is a college student or goes to college midway through the game or something.

College kid wouldn't be wearing a uniform though. Can't wait to see more.

He looks like my head canon for Yukiko and Narukami 's future kid. Does he have a canon name yet?

Maybe he's just attending a special high class college that requires a uniform?

I'm sorry to disappoint, but speaking from the little info we have, P5 is confirmed to have a high school setting (check wiki article to dig deeper). I kinda like the fuzzy hair. Now I demand at least one homo-erotical social link and I'll be a very happy guy.
Also great to see it happen on PS4. Right now the only games I want to buy for PS4 are Type 0 and Persona 5 (and FFXV in 2020), both of them will be ports, lol. I never was happier to have skipped previous gen of consoles.

I clicked "read first unread post" and saw the latest post in the topic (even though it's not actually the first unread post by me in the topic) and thought "It's coming to PS4 after all, not PS3? NOOO!" but then scrolled up a bit and was like "Oh :hahaha:".

:headbang: My abstinence from the current gen is able to continue! (But I'll probably crack and buy one for Silent Hills and MGS5 anyway.)

Well you have to realize every persona Game has an emotionless blank slate main character. It's the player that makes the character who he or she wants to be. However this makes anime adaptations a bit difficult. Make him one way fans will be upset. Make him bland and boring people will complain about his lack of personality and casual viewers won't really be interested.

Also anything about a Female option? I actually liked the female character in persona 3 better than the original male main.

Or you can take the P4 anime option: give him a flamboyant and larger-than-life personality based on all the trollish dialog options in the game, giving us a crazy awesome Yu Narukami without any furbishing or sense of tact and able to make even the most mundane things like fishing into awesome feats!
