As you pointed, the glyphs are the same as 10,1; just turned 90º to left and right. Aaaaaand they are sided with 13a/13A (Shinji/Kaworu). What does this mean? Well, we can presume that the original glyph could mean "being", "pilot", "trigger"; and the position of the glyph could represent the condition/state of it, like "lilin", "angel", "hybrid".
This conclusion brings me to Yokai's post up there:

Perhaps the remaining 40 are the main kana in hiragana or katakana?

Or... kanji?

maybe the rotation serves as capitalization? 10,1 being "a", while the same 10,1 rotated means "A"?
or change in script, like "a" rotated turns into "alpha"?

Didn't we have an "A" already from the DSS chocker? yes, at 4,5 there's "A" accordimg to the choker...
So maybe 10,1 stands for "lower case alpha" and the rotation for "capital alpha"

These glyphs are they equivalent to the alphabet of the angels (Enochian) by John Dee? Contention Glyphs are more characteristic of magic than science. Now that I think about the situation, in Q seems becoming increasingly mystical and has some sort of Gnostic tones. Will Anno decided to use a supernatural approach rather than Far Ancient Technology? They were never actually mentioned in the series, only in auxiliary material.

The scene of awakening Unit 13 reminds me a passage from a book of Gnostic inspiration, Demian:
"The bird struggles out of the egg. The egg is the world. Whoever wants to be born must destroy a world. The bird flies to God. That God's name is Abraxas."

If Anno is using a mystical approach, the desert walk, allegories messianic and obsession with sin make sense, but it's weird because he always said that the Judeo-Christian mysticism was to add flavor to the plot. Or he changed his mind or he's just playing with the fans like the old troll ever.

This is my first message in a while since during the inter-bd release i decided to get away from Eva sites and foruns to avoid spoilers and the agony of waiting for the BD.

What i bring here is a work i've done since i haven´t seen anyone else posting results up to now and also to help people avoiding wasting their time.

Apparently the Hex glyphs in the purple wall of the 2.22 preview doesn´t have a clear meaning.

Here is my findings:




Problens are:
- Many hex glyphs are missing in the transcode that is given to us in the DSS chocker dyagram on the 3.33
- Even tough is possible there could be a code inside a code, it is unlikely due to the repeated patern on the wall.
I would like to try and translate the glyphs in the 3.33 now, specially the one in Asuka's eye, but even the Thora release of the 3.33 doesn´t have enough definition to allow me try it yet, i was at first more interested on those particular images for obvious reasons.[/img]

I doubt there's actual meaningful text anywhere in these Annorunes, but if you're bored here's the frames directly from the BD in PNG, 10 total and the glyphs change every frame:


Upscaling and fiddling with contrast/brightness makes them very legible.

As soon as school gets out, I'm going to start doing this the hard way. Manual analysis, here I come.

Hot damn you're right. In the choker sequence the runs are all ascending while the melody while Shinji goes crazy goes up and down. However you can match the melody without adding any extra notes.
