Eeeeeeewwwwwwww dubs...

So how's everyone's Kotobukiya kits doing? My 01 that has been assembled since November-ish and left to gather dust has revealed some problems. The polycaps are apperently made nice and tight, but not flexible enough so they split over time. It's not really a problem for the hips since they split through the peg and that is held together by other parts so the joint isn't that much looser. The shoulder polycap on the other hand split on the side without the peg, so that's quite loose now. I haven't bothered looking around my stash yet but I wonder if any of the Bandai polycaps fit. Will report on that eventually.

Ouch, that looks nasty.

Maybe a drop of plastic glue could weld the crack shut again.

Polyethylene gives no fucks about glues or cement. It's so unreactive they use it for various chemical containers.

Polycaps have always been the source of pain for model builders. Paint doesn't stick to them at all and the natural function of them (the slight flex to have tight joints) flaxes everything off. The usual solution is just to encase the polycap in another material to paint it.

Bugger. That's pretty bad. Not sure what to suggest. I don't know if putty would work (I assume it wouldn't adhere to the polyethylene), or maybe if you could take the polycaps out and use something to heat them and melt them back together (although that risks seriously damaging the components).

Otherwise, I guess you'll just need to replace them. Thanks for the heads up though. If I get the Kotobukiya model, I'll make sure to be careful.

EDIT: Major problem. My Unit 00 Robot Damashii has always suffered from a loose waist joint, and up until now I've been able to solve this with a small amount of superglue. However, the ball socket must have been damaged/widened, because now no matter what I do, the waist will not stay together.

What do I do? I NEED to fix this- I don't have the money for a replacement and there's no way I'd be able to convince my parents to pay for a replacement.

I recall someone using tiny cuts of common office rubber bands to put in the hole of the articulation, thus making pressure on the ball of the inserting piece and keeping it tight inside...

Has there been any news at all on any upcoming revoltech or bandai portrait figures, it seems to have been a really dry first quarter this year compared to last Eva wise :(

Did some splurging and bought six Eva figurines at Anime Boston.

Four of them were a set of the main girls from Rebuild:

The other two were blind box figures of Asuka:

The first four will remain in their boxes. The other two were already opened since they were blind boxes, so I might as well assemble them and put them on display.

Seriously, that is the most fananked theory I've ever heard, more than Mari being Marty McFly travelling through time to keep her parents (Asushin) together. -- Jäeger

Wouldn't surprise me. I know a Japanese girl who's older than me (18 I think) and barely 130 centimetres. I'd actually have to kneel down to kiss her.

Of course, I forgot that Asuka and Mari European blood (3/4 in the former case) and that Yui was a relatively tall woman, while Sakura is a "pure-blood" Japanese. Or maybe her leg injuries during Sachiel battle stunted her leg growth (they look a little short for her body proportion).
Or Fridge Horror : food rationing due to Third Impact stunted her growth, that would explain why Midori looks short too, although not why Hideki looks tall.

The quality is really good but I don't think the price tag can be justified. I think I prefered the SPEC evas.

edit: And the whole thing is made of rubber. I'm afraid everything would just break if I try to move its articulations in a few months/years. Does anyone have any information about that?

I'm more worried about the painted parts of the rubber like the neck. Even the prototype 02 photos had some paint cracked because I'm guessing they tested the hell out of it.
