When every time someone mentions having a ego, no little or small

i always think of Shinji's ego boarder being quazi preserved in the eva.

Also, when I have used and read about psychedelic drugs/entheogens I always think of Shinji have his ego death experience in EoE. I notice not a lot of people seem to bring this up

The actual experience is amazing/horrifying. I was really happy Anno incorporated it. Shinji's look was great; with them bugged out eyes

I believe I did mention it around here; I also had an ego death experience, using a method I thought of myself. I used a certain (entirely legal but strong) dissociative drug - not sure if I'd be allowed to name it in public - and sensory deprivation: a warm bath, with ears plugged and lights turned off. Had an alarm clock set to 40 minutes, and a small patch of light falling behind me so I could look at it if the trip turned bad.
The sensation was amazing; I can only describe it as blissful nonexistence. There was no time, no space and no me, only the universe turning round and round in a great cycle. And then... I had a vision of Ayanami (probably because I was *really* obsessed with Eva at the time). She was standing in her plugsuit among some vast dark ruins on a faraway dead world (I felt rather than saw most of it), and I had the feeling that she is some divine entity of life and rebirth, and was there to bring the world back to life.
Rather stereotypical, I know. Nevertheless, I cherish the experience.

For me, it was free, since there was a "Get A Free DVD/Video Game/Poster" deal at a local game store. I only got a DVD, since none of the free games interested me.

Amazon lists it as being $6.46 USD. The film's around 10 years old, so it's probably pretty inexpensive.
