I'm one of them. In fact, I went into the movie with my expectations set by the reactions of the likes of pwhodges, only to walk away very pleasantly surprised with what I saw. And I think that being spoiled of the tenor of the ending is what had me looking out for signs that it was coming and so when it happened, to me it was the natural conclusion of the movie and the alternative would have been an asspull.

I suppose that makes this a "love it or hate it" kind of movie.

The answer, clearly, is that everyone should watch it in order to see whether they wanted to!

Amagi Brilliant Park - It's KyoAni, so I'll probably drop this a few episodes in when it starts to lose me. The last of their anime that I stuck with through to the end was Kyokai no Kanata, which ended up not being worth it. The humanoid mascots are the biggest reason I'm watching this, everything else isn't that interesting.

I Don't Understand What My Husband is Saying - Cute, funny short. I like that it's about an otaku and that the show doesn't make a big deal about sex. Not much else to say.

Psycho-Pass 2 - The first episode didn't give me the impression that it would be much different from the past first season, which was great. Doing the same song and dance isn't a bad thing, it's better than going in a completely different direction that doesn't make sense and ends up sucking.

Garo The Animation - I'm enjoying this so far. Guy has sex with a woman who turns out to be a demon, kills it, completely unfazed. Heh. My only complaints are that the animation is less than stellar and the Knight transformations feel too tokusatsu and out of place in a fantasy world like this one.

Shingeki no Bahamut Genesis - I might like Garo more if the animation were at least of this level of quality. But Bahamut is good too. It seems like it'll be fun fantasy high adventure kind of stuff.

SeHa Girls - I think the oldest console I had was the PSOne, but I remember playing older games like the original Virtua Fighter and Tekken games. Anthropomorphic game consoles are cool too.

Parasyte - I read about 30 chapters of the manga a while ago. It's kind of like Spider-Man, in that it seems like a metaphor for adolescence. Main dude wakes up with a hand which has a mind of its own (heh) that can fight other alien monsters. He becomes more confident and outgoing thanks to this Metamorphosis. The alien probably acts on impulse in response to Shinichi's sub-conscious desires, like when he randomly gropes that girl.

I was planning on watching Terra Formars because I read about 20-ish chapters the manga a while ago. Once I heard about the censoring and that the action scenes weren't really worth seeing, I decided not to watch it.

I saw the first Urusei Yatsura movie. Absolutely delightful, I can't believe Oshii directed this but it was filled with fuckery that can be attributed to him. I really liked this in particular: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1ixzGVkfas

Opening song was qt as well. Can't wait to watch Beautiful Dreamer.

Oh, I also watched Carnival Phantasm a few weeks ago. It was really, really funny, my favorite bits were Bersercar and Rin trying to operate a bluray player.

Pretty much this. Eleven, I'm glad that you enjoyed the series! The movie is a fun ride, so yes-- you should totally watch it. The first two just have prettier animation, so it's up to you if you feel like a recap.

Fate/Zero was pretty great series but the beginning of series was pretty much wet towel to face for those not already "innit". I think in comparison UBW's epilogue does much better job drawing viewer in with notable lack of those infamous Type-Moon infodumps from the getgo.

?????

Only think that smelled of Oshii to me in that flick was some of the military stuff that kinda sticks out from the general Urusei Yatsura look and vibe.

Having seen gifs and caps on moon speaking internet I'd say there are rather strong libidinious reasons to watch it.

But there's no Gainaxing when there ought to be plenty, according to the gifs I've seen.

Totally.

The gifs and screen caps are actually better than watching them in the actual show, because then you have to sit through non-T&A stuff in-between.

It's mesmerizing, that's what it is. I may need to get a few episodes just for that. Or just watch the gifs, from what you guys are telling me.

The mascots are kind of funny. They go to a bar and behave like salarymen, ordering beers and flirting with the waitress. They go to work where they have to take the punches of little children with smiles. But not everyone finds this kind of stuff amusing.

The T&A stuff isn't anything substantial, but I've never been much for fanservice anyway. NSFW:

Them pesky women at KyoAni I swear

Ah right. Well yeah I guess, I was thinking content-wise because the first UY film is full Takahashi (in a good sense).

You'll love Beautiful Dreamer I think (and hope) and it's Oshii as hell in turn.
