Just FYI, those deleted scenes were included--and subtitled--in Funimation's 2.22 BD/DVD extras. They weren't only included in the Japanese 2.22 DVD/BD extras (no idea about other countries).

The only sense I can make of that is that maybe they want to make the parallel between Kaji and Kaworu even more overt this time...

"Worse"? Is this a typo? I'm pretty much sure that you meant "better", right?

FWIW, they were also included, subtitled, in the Italian edition.

If you leave your fetishes and ifxations out of it it was pretty terrible. At least the coffee machine scene flows logically. That scene just jumps around in terms of mood and focus until reaching the ultimate non-sequitur with that.

In fact I was referring to the homoerotic joke, that scene was indeed crammed but if you consider what they were trying to achieve in terms of compression rate, at least thirteen episodes in less than two hours, it does make sense that they tried to do it anyway.

Ryoji Kaji and Kaworu Nagisa = Father and son.
SO THERE I WAS BEING KUBO, WHEN THE EDITORS CAME IN AND WERE LIKE "YOU NEED TO DO MORE THAN PANELS OF WHITE PILLARS AND BLACKGROUNDS!" AND I WAS LIKE "FUCK YOU, I'M KUBO!" SO THEY WERE LIKE "WELL HOW ABOUT SOMEBODY DYING?" AND I WAS LIKE "FUCK YOU, I'M KUBO!" AND I MADE LOTS AND LOTS OF MONEY. I LOVE MY LIFE.

This stuff is already way off topic, so I won't mention Reichu's theory about Kaworu's genetic heritage and how it ties those three together. Nope, not gonna do it.

I'd love to see what would happen if Kaji adopted Kaworu.

If Kaji's personality rubbed off on him then Kaworu would probably be getting the ladies.

∞+2=∞ it doesn't look like Kaji would really improve him a lot.

The scene make us clearly that :

>She is the Euro Air Force ace

That's no different from what her eventual introduction scenes in 22.2 say, really.
There's nothing stating that she's a "real" captain, they only just met her and have been told that she simply has the rank, cue Kensuke's usual reaction to anything military-related.

View Original PostJornophelanthas wrote:I would like to add that it is not unthinkable that Asuka did, in fact, attend college classes (or private college-equivalent tutoring), most likely ones about aerodynamics, rocket propulsion systems and other physics stuff that a pilot needs to know. It may even have a genuine college degree attached to it.
But Asuka is still in school with Shinji and the others, because her GENERAL education (e.g. history of Second Impact, Japanese language skill) are still at a level more typical for her age. Possibly even lower, because an accelerated military and college training regimen allows little time for (even basic) tuition in the humanities.

That is also an option, I guess. It would be believable (and consistent with her portrayal personality) for her to pick up a variety of highly EVA-specific skills since she's been trained since she was five, but she simply doesn't act like an all-out child prodigy - It's treated as a throaway line when it should be a mayor part of her character that would influence her previous experiences and how she views the world and therefore, come up/be referenced more than once.
In this show, we saw some 14-year olds have their way with their parent's computers, play infamously hard pieces of classic music without even trying, reading heavy scientific literature in a foreign language, aparently have no problem in school despite being missing half the time, and pondering the meaning of their existance... and none of these are done by the chick who's supposed to be the resident teen genius.

View Original PostJornophelanthas wrote:Regarding Asuka's training, it could very well be that she has had very little exposure to peers during her life. It is far more likely that she either received private tutoring/training [...]No children or teenagers for miles.

^yeah. I always thought that it was an important thing to keep in mind when dealing with Asuka's character. Presumably, both her and Rei spent most of their lives glued to the program, which certainly contributed to their problems with seeing it as their only reason for being. Presumably, Asuka spent years looking forward for the time she had prepared for/worked towards all her life, which explains why she had such strong irrational reaction to things simply not going the way she wanted them - after all, any result short of perfection sort of "invalidate"s all she has been doing for the past few years.
It#s sad, when you think about it, she and Rei actually had something in common there. If Asuka could've looked past her own idea of Rei laced with whatever unlikeable parts of herself she projected onto her, she may have fround a potential friend there.
It even seems like they share some hobbies. (For once, swimming/diving. Rei even speaks German. )
Shinji's the only one who had a theoretical chance of a normal life.

I don't think Mari knows Asuka. When she got into EVA 02, she merely remarked that it "smelled of someone else" not something like "Ah, so this is the smell of Asuka-chans Eva!" She had no reason to keep any potential connection a secret since she cut the intercom.

300+2 = 302 (Not much gain).

Air Force Ace

Ace

*Ace of the Air Force.
*Captain.
*Brown/Orange hair.
*Superior Firepower.

Space Tsundere Neko Space Pirate Asuka Shikinami Langley.

Taking what I just wrote, should we add "Dimension" and "Magical Girl" to it?

Next, she'll "befriend" Mari. Or will it be "Devil" or "Listen or be shot?!"
