Obi-Wan?

Now, this Rebuild of Evangelion business has reached out and grabbed me; so I'm addicted once more. Help!

You came HERE looking for Eva addiction help? We can help you indulge in it, but we can't help you fight it.

You mean to tell me, FreakyFilmFan4ever, that this isn't the deprogramming site? Oh, my! I've been horribly misinformed. Well, I'll just have to run Plan "B"....

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the online discussion of Evangelion. I first saw the series in when I was 14 years old (I'm now 22) when I bought the lot on VHS on eBay.

Didn't realise there was Rebuild until yesterday - I thought 1.0 was OK, but 2.0 was amazing!

Totally getting back into it now. I've just finished my degree in philosophy and politics and I registered because I have a lot to say on that feminist essay thread.

Sup guys, awesome to find a place dedicated to evangelion. ;D

Anyway, uh, I have no idea what to say. I'm terrible with introductions.

'Cept, I wouldn't mind losing some humanity with Mari, if you get what I sayin' -wink, wink.- She can ZA BEASTO with me all night. Dohoho.

-ahem- Please take care of me.

[edit: also, Asuka was surprisingly moe in 2.22..]

So...uhhhh...Hi. Technically I'm not a new member, I joined awhile back to steal some emotes for MSN and I guess I forgot about it. This is my first post, however. I've been a huge Eva fan for awhile and my story behind it is...Odd.

Anyway, I stumbled onto the Eva-geeks wiki about a year or so ago and was delighted to find it saturated with Eva facts and, surprisingly, humor. I read a crapton of articles and lurked the site a bit, and I'm just now bothering to make a post on it. I'll either actually use this site or make this one comment and you'll never hear from me again-- but I assure you I'll continue reading the articles.

Great site, it's dedicated to the show but not so much so that its members are detached from reality...much.

tl;dr: hi, i like turtles

So an introduction thread?

I've been aware of Evangelion for a long long time now, and only recently (end of May 2010) decided to check out what the series was all about.

I have now watched the original series, EOE, Rebuild 1.11 & 2.22, read the Wikipedia/ a few Wiki sites, have read a few scholarly, and researched & prowled various fan sites and forums. [This site and Forum, I believe, has the most to offer]

I still feel, after all of this, that there much more to learn.

So after reading what I could, I have decided to see what else the Evangelion iceberg has to offer and begin participating.
Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence.

It (the iceberg thing) can crush you down into a hopeless cycle of pleasant addiction to the show and make you uber-pessimistic, like me.

I wouldn't say that this is the meaning of the "Evangelion Iceberg" at all. It's a tremendously deep work ready and waiting for deep and hell, even positivist analysis. Apparently, someone here reacted like the Titanic to it.

[Get it, Titanic, Iceberg? Okay I'll stop now.]
