Shinobu is the greatest thing about Monogatari, just as you'll see in future episodes and Kizu. Hanekawa was a predictable Plain Jane and I'm glad that she'll no longer be the focus of future arcs since her story is pretty much done.

She's great in kizu and her bathtub conversation with Araragi is my favorite exchange in Nise, and that's facing stiff competition from the various Kaiki conversations.

I agree, it's kind of upsetting to watch. Benten's passive hostility freaks me out.

I actually bought both of these at the same time, since I found out that Sadamoto did character designs for them. Honestly, I liked his work in Evangelion better.

Guhhh, you don't go into those two films expecting GAINAXesque designs. They would've been completely off whereas the style Sadamoto employed for Hosoda films work absolute marvels with the man's directing style, ADs and tone of the stories. They're great designs, especially in Summer Wars, in their unassuming modesty and get the job done incredibly well.

Which, in the end, is the main purpose of character designs (no it's not oh god teh Rei fap fap fap though that's more often than not partial aim)

It's funny you mentioned that. When I first heard Naegi's voice I thought that it sounded familiar, but couldn't put my finger on it. By the second episode I said " Wait a minute..that's Shinji!". So yes, it was very nice hearing her voice again.

And that's what he responded to. The point being that it's pointless to compare Sadamoto's work in Evangelion and Hosoda's films and that his style in Hosoda's films is perfect for the director's overall style. Thus Sadamoto's character design for Hosoda's films is pretty amazing and it's weird to approach it from a comparative perspective.

Just finished up Genshiken 2 yesterday.
Originally, I wanted to end it by continuing to watch the subbed version (like I had done before), but those videos were having problems loading, so I was forced into watching it dubbed, but on a better source. With the exception of Sue's usage of Japanese (It was different in the subbed version, I'm sure) and the voices of a few of the main characters (namely Saki and Ohno.), the dub actually sounded fine.

After I finish up Arakawa under The Bridge, my anime list won't be so cluttered. (Too much stuff on the "Watching" area on my list)
Monster is just getting better with each episode... although I wonder why MAL gave it a "R+ - Mild Nudity" rating. I'm at 21 episodes so far.
