Um, you asked that question before and it was already answered that most likely no. For whatever reasons that Khara wanted Funimation to do a redub, it wouldn't make any sense to include what they don't approve.

Also, several people (myself included) mentioned the 3.0 dub in theaters wasn't completely terrible, but certain lines weren't delivered in the ambiguous manner the Japanese version had (e.g. Kaworu, Misato).

Did other foreign dubs of the movie have to be redub due to "poor quality?"
I wonder why just Funi got called out?

It may have been because the English dubs got the biggest laughs.

From what I gather, not really. He's said that English was the one subject he should've studied harder or something like that when he was in school. Beyond his infamous "Too bad" mic drop comment at Anime Expo '96, I haven't heard of any other instance of him speaking it.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

No, though Khara does have an English speaker on staff. (He writes the lyrics for the choir.) Though, it does also appear Khara might have had Funi tape audience reaction. I know hat Funi at least thought they were going to have an audience relation reel for the DVD, but I doubt that'll happen anymore.

He's so perfectionistic he wants to perfection-ize the english dub, too? Cool.
We don't get something like that in tiny euopean countries.

That said, I didn't think the previous version, or what little of it hit the internet, was that bad. I especially liked Misato. Going for "grand hammy captain ahab" instead of "icy cold technical tone" was a deviation, but one that worked at transliterating it, I think. AKS sold you tht this woman wants to save humanity at any cost.

Then again, who's to say that them at Khara are stepping in because they're apalled? Maybe they just want to offer imput because, well, anno drew some of the shit himself, resarched space stuff, had Hayashibara repeat lines like "Yes, Sir" exty times...
That's just how they are; It's about getting a good product out.

I mean, does anyone doubt that having the boss-man shout out directions will improve this?

I'm so curious where the differences will be... From those we might get a hint which meanings for certain ambiguous lines were originally intended.

To be honest, I do wonder how they'll manage to make things sound more ambiguous... In Misato's last scene, growled out "Shinji!" (IMO sounded like a parent angry at their son) instead of whispering his name in Japanese ("Shinji-kun...).

But I definitely hope Kaworu will learn how to say his own name properly  , and it'd be an extra bonus (IMO) if they fix up Asuka's "Just die already!" line. Hm, maybe they axed her calling Shinji an asshole?

The auto-cynical reaction might be to think that Khara are stepping in to supervise Funimation. But looking at things from another perspective, the implication here is that up to now Funimation have been left to dub the show more or less entirely on their own. Harshly: The creators have effectively abandoned the production of the foreign language distributions of their film.

Khara coming in here could well be sen as a very positive development. A major Japanese stuido could finally be taking English dubs of its work seriously, closely working with voice actors. If we're extremely lucky, they might even edit to improve lip synching, etc. But at least they're taking an active role in the production and distribution of the dub.

I didn't notice any wonkiness of lip syncing for the 3.0 dub, but I definitely prefer Khara stepping in (it's their baby) than not. I almost wished they could have with 1.0 and 2.0 (Mari's swearing in 2.0 just felt off, while in 3.0 her and Asuka swearing was IMO realistic minus the "assssshole!" bits).

I agree that Mari's cussing in 2.0 was weird and felt out of place.

^ Yeah, that felt really out of character from her. The character went from the amused curiosity and excitement of piloting an Eva Unit Maaya Sakamoto provided in the Japanese dub, to a harsh and bombastic stereotypical “action one-liner #54,” vibe. Not cool.

She only swore three times in the English dub (at least in 2.0), is that really so bad for a PG-13 movie? She said an F-word in the battle in the opening, Sh*t head, and Sneaky Bastard in the fight against Zeruel.

Makes sense she'd swear in those situations IMO. I'D Swear in those situations.

^ It’d make sense for anyone but Mari to swear in those situations. Anno makes a very clear effort in Ha to show that Mari doesn’t see Evas and Angels with the same intensity as the other characters do.

American values are different from Japanese Values.

I don't care anymore! I want to rewatch 3.0 without having to raise a pirate flag! Maybe we should just petition Anno and Khara to just let it go and let us have our subpar-but-not-really dub?

Funimation is losing money, and all but the hardcore fans like Evageeks are losing interest each day they delay! This isn't how you conduct business!

I just hope Funi doesn't have these same "issues" by the time they grab the rights to FINAL.

Mari’s British. Her use of language is more of a statement about the individual than it is about any culture. If she would swear, she’d probably be all like “Bloody Hell!” or “Buggering the fanny!”

But, yeah. This dub is taking forever. Heck, I probably won’t even watch the dub. The longer I wait for Funi to release this disc, the happier it makes me that I just event ahead and bought the Japanese Blu-ray.

Can't agree I think the mari's cursing was exactly her character.
The 'just fucking die!' line was absolutely epic and the scene would not have half the intensity without it honestly.

Has there been a cam rip leaked of the theater English dub?

My local online retailer (Mightyape) just emailed me this about the release date of the dub. I have it pre-ordered.

I wonder what this bodes for the release date elsewhere...

... But still. Ugh. EVANGELION 3.33: YOU CAN (NOT) RELEASE
I finally put something here!
