Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

That's what I said last year. Then I bought the Japanese BD, found a good sub track, and ultimately said "fuck it" and just grabbed the HD Thora rip. And now I'm like "oh yeah, Funi dub, whatever." It has literally nothing to offer me apart from some translated extras, so meh.
For my post-3I fic, go here.
The law doesn't protect people. People protect the law. -- Akane Tsunemori, Psycho-Pass
People's deaths are to be mourned. The ability to save people should be celebrated. Life itself should be exalted. -- Volken Macmani, Tatakau Shisho: The Book of Bantorra
I hate myself. But maybe I can learn to love myself. Maybe it's okay for me to be here! That's right! I'm me, nothing more, nothing less! I'm me. I want to be me! I want to be here! And it's okay for me to be here! -- Shinji Ikari, Neon Genesis Evangelion
Yes, I know. You thought it would be something about Asuka. You're such idiots.

If when it comes to it there is a way to discern what the time has been spent on, that could lead to interesting discussion about the relative importance of different aspects of the film. Perhaps.

The US is not exactly the main audience Khara creates Evangelion for. Since Funimation already paid the big bucks & bought the rights for Eva 3.33 most of the financial incentive for Khara to deliver a product has already been taken care of. Hell, Khara probably has "English subtitles for American version" low down their list of things to do. Does Khara even get a cut of the English sales? Cause if they don't get a dollar (or whatever) for every unit sold then Khara definitely has no incentive to finish the dubs if no one's bothering them.
If anything, to me it sounds like Funimation as a company might need to step up & start pushing Khara & Anno to finish their preferred translations so they can get the disc out. Or at the very least set a deadline/ultimatum where if Khara has not given them their preferred subtitles by Date X they'll just go ahead with their own Funimation written ones.
Sounds like Funimation needs to do something. Of course I understand the reticence. They REALLY want Eva Final whenever that gets released.

I don't mind the delay as such if it results in a superior product, it just strikes me as bizarre that it has taken so long and there has been so little communication. As others have said Evangelion isn't made for a western audience and Khara probably isn't prioritizing it as much as we'd like. It would however be nice to have something concrete considering they seem to be the ones who contacted Funimation over this.

Links! Links for everyone! Buy the Blu-ray here and quit waiting for an English dub that became a laughingstock in the Eva franchise!
Seriously, the only thing I’m looking forward to now is being able to watch the film with subtitles on my Home Theater system without needing to plug in my computer. Oh, and the translated booklet. And none of these things will really change my life or anything like that either.

^ Like I said, it won’t change my life at all. It is to the point where waiting for the Funimation release does little to enhance the film viewing /Eva experience. I think the most interesting point would be where the fan subs and the Funi subs differ, and if I can get an English dub at least as funny as Manga’s EoE dub or ADV’s Ghost Stories dub.
I think it's safe to say that the new dub for Q better be on the level of fucking Cowboy fucking Bebop with all the sweet time they're taking with it.
If it's anything less than that, it's Khara's own fault.
