i haven't seen that SEELE marking on its head before, probably because it's red so it's really faint... these are from 2.22

Hey I just had a thought about why those markings are there. Maybe this guy pulled a Bardiel and assimilated some incomplete eva to make his body. I mean his head and neck to remind me of the incomplete evas in the graveyard.

Hmm...for an Angel that's been in captivity since before the series began, it's unlikely that it took that long to figure out it could use these random lying-around bodies, and that's only if the Acheron dudes were stupid enough to leave a body lying there...

Well, we need some explanation for why Tunniel escaped at that time.

The usual theory is that it's no coincidence that Kaji was leaving and had apparently been talking to Mari - that Kaji did some of his trademark sabotage to let the Angel out.

Did that involve giving it access to some spare parts? Maybe. If Kaji did that, then there's no need to make assumptions about Tunniel being very stupid or the staff incompetent.

Or, more accurately, stick a dummy plug in it, since there certainly doesn't appear to be a human in there. But there is a plug or something very like it on Tunnel's spine. Mari might even know that - it's right where she stabs the Angel, actually.
