The soundtrack collection for the 25th Anniversary is still missing though. So no NGE II and III, Death or EoE music.

It's actually already up in Spotify but with a region lock. Stil a good sign I'd say and we only need to wait until it's made available more widely.

I’m SO happy to see VOYAGER from Bye-Bye Jupiter somehow made it into the film! I never would have guessed in a million years that one of my favourite songs would play over the finale of Evangelion XD
(I also noticed that there are only 53 of the supposed 54 tracks listed but perhaps there’s a hidden track? Or perhaps I’ve miscounted...)

I listened to the soundtrack, and by god is it amazing. All of the discs contain absolute killer songs, each one better than the last. Sagisu truly delivered here!

Been listening to some of the tracks. Happy to hear the classic "Borderline Case" melody make a triumphant return after only a brief appearance in 3.0.
I mean, predictability is the central attraction and the narrative hook that we've all come to expect from the Evangelion franchise. How come Anno can't realize this? Twice? - FreakyFilmFan4ever

Is there a new version of escape to beginning in this film!??, I LOVE that song and i read that a new version played in a scene, (in one of the camrip scenes that are around actually), if so, whats the track called in this soundtrack??

Speaking of the Shin Eva OST as a whole, did anyone else notice that Shiro Sagisu was hiding Shin Eva tunes in his Xpressions album the whole time?
"Yearning For Your Love" is definitely from that album.

Can someone with more musical expertise answer a question that been bugging me since the AVANT 1 preview:

I think it's mostly in 4/4 but the guitar+clapping parts are probably in 5/4 and 6/8 (?). It's hard to tell but those are just guesses.
Btw has anyone got any info/translations about the 64 page liner notes from the CD? I'm curious about a lot of it.

Paris is in 7/4 time. There are 7 beats to each measure, and the quarter note gets the beat.
Counting 7/4 time would be:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7!

Well the soundtrack is on youtube now! Someone posted the three discs as three separate videos. I liked what I heard but also I find it difficult to listen to film scores sometimes, especially when I haven't seen the movie already.

Also someone has uploaded a version of Voyager〜日付のない墓標〜 (Nameless Gravestone) by it's original performer Yumi Matsutoya which I understand to be the 3.0+1.0 equivalent of Komm, Susser Todd. i.e. THE big song over THE big sequence:

The original version of the song is a bitch to find online so I grateful to the 90s j-pop fan who uploaded it.
Apparently the song was used on a 1980s film called Bye Bye Jupiter - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sayonara_Jupiter_(film) which once again means it's a song from the Showa era that Mari is so fond of.
If you find the 3.0+1.0 version (and there's no shortage of people who have uploaded the soundtrack now) it has lyrics which work for both films. Also the Eva version at about 1:45 has *that* guitar twang from KST as well as the up and down swirly strings near the end of both songs. Also in places it's reminiscent of Tsubasa o Kudasai. Also like all these songs used in Rebuild it has incredibly sad lyrics but uplifting orchestration. Anno and his dissonance again.
So those of you who are Japan or very familiar with Japan - is this song super-well-known? What context is it usually heard these days? Funerals? Karaoke? Weddings? End of the night slow dance at the night club? Is there an equivalent needle-drop in a western film to compare it to?

Very poggers, I'll purchase this when it comes out.
Overall, Jo stayed closest to NGE. Not much new stuff in there, though it was wonderful to hear old tracks with some new goodies sprinkled in. Ha has the score that feels most embedded in my memory-- I haven't seen the film in years, but play 'Carnage' and all the memories come flooding back. Q had a wonderful score as well, probably the most new material (somewhat obvious, since it's completely off the beaten track from NGE at that point), and Shin Eva manages to keep up the momentum with some pretty spectacular themes. The music didn't feel overbearing to me in the theater, it just felt like it worked. (And of course they gave us the theme for Operation Yashima again, because mmm it's so good.)

Something else completely random that occurred to me - if Sakura Nagashi, in hindsight, is from Misato's perspective, Utada's "One Last Kiss" is effectively a love song between Gendo and Yui!
