I'm guessing he means casuals, or rather people who only stay in the club meetings as long as they're required to.

I've just been for dinner at la Manoire, one of the top 10 restaurants in Europe (it happens to be only a few miles away from where I live) - courtesy of a £1200 voucher which a grateful client gave my son after a job he did for them, which just covered dinner for four (a nine-course tasting menu, with six wines to match, ending at midnight). We took it as celebrating his birthday a couple of days ago (and mine around the time he got the voucher).

It was, of course, possibly the finest meal I've ever had; and specifically, everything was novel and interesting.

Last time I went there (17 years ago, for my 50th birthday) I got food poisoning!

The Wind Rises more than fulfilled my expectations; it was an excellent evening out. More to come in the anime thread.

Yeah, June got it right; "casuals" is a better word for them.

I've observed four general tiers of anime club members during my time here:

Plebs - people who only attend the general body meetings on Wednesdays.
Casuals - people who come in occasionally to watch their weekly anime / play some vidya.
Regulars - people who come by almost every day for extended periods.
All-Nighters - people who stay in the clubroom until it closes at 2:00 AM almost every weekday. Includes many of the admins and regular students such as myself.

So yeah, pretty much all of the All-Nighters at least know what Evangelion is and why it's... special.

In light of recent events there is a chance I could get deployed to the Philippines on humanitarian aid. I got the word the other night, half plastered, that we where to stop consuming alcohol and get our flaks ready. Honestly I don't know if I even have a chance to go seeing as I'm set to go to the armory in like three days.

I've taken up playing pool in my free time, and talking to some of the guys in Alpha Radio. The guy next door is helping me get better too. Watching me play is actually comical. I make just enough shots to keep people wondering if I actually know what I'm doing but it's never with enough frequency to actually be useful. I'm getting better though. I'm learning with another cute girl in Radio.

EDIT: Also got a 3.33 and my roommate is on duty tomorrow so I"m going to sit back, relax and watch it on my TV

My Writing 102 teacher is one of the nicest and most helpful teachers I've ever had.

I was supposed to write a five-page rough draft of a research paper for peer review by today, but due to loads of other work and helping out with a school event this weekend I only got to writing it yesterday. We'd handed in proposals beforehand but once I sat down to write I got the worst case of writer's block I've ever had. I was completely at a loss as to how to start writing, mostly because I hadn't taken care to pin down my topic properly. Since I didn't want to go into class with nothing like a total mook, I decided to go to my professor's office hours to explain my situation and ask for help. Instead of getting frustrated at me, she immediately started helping me to flesh out my topic, and I left a half hour later with a much better idea of what I need to do for this paper. As for the peer review, she said I could expand the notes we'd been taking during the conversation and use that along with a source.

This went from being an incredibly shitty day to a not-so-bad day really fast.

....and this is in RML, why?

:scared:
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996
