Quickening Eva-08 [split]

I'm confused- is Eva Mark.06 & Eva 08 the same model? Or two different types?? They look almost the same.... Anyone? :crazytwirl:

They are not explicitly said to be the same, and it is in fact unlikely that they are - Unit 08 apparently has its own pilot, distinct from Kaworu, and is said to be "quickening" (about to be born - actually, could someone clarify whether this is referring to the pilot or the Eva? I've never been sure) - which does not really apply to Mark 06. They do look sort of similar, since both are apparently modeled roughly after Unit 01.

"The quickening Eva-08 and its pilot." Quickening=fetal movement, so it implies the Eva is having fetal movement inside of it. (Yes, it's about the Eva, not the pilot.)

Well, if the Eva is having fetal movement inside of it, that would imply that the pilot is the fetus. "To quicken" is "to reach the stage of pregnancy at which the child shows signs of life". So that, too, would suggest that Mark 06 is not really related to Unit 08, if the pilot of Unit 08 has yet to show signs of life.

Rather reminds me of Berserk. Hopefully Shinji/Rei is in a better mood than Griffith.

Azathoth: Exactly. And there was some Eva-01 "birthing" Shinji imagery (well, off-screen except for nekkid fetal-position LCL-soaked Shinji >_>) in Episode 20.

Found this from the net. It's supposed to be EVA 07; art by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Not sure whether they're gonna use this design for Rebuild though). I just found it awesome!

Got it from Minitokyo. A scan from an Evangelion artbook. Art done by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto(creator of the NGE manga). It's supposed to be Eva Provisional Unit 07 (stated on it's Shoulder Panel).

It's from a doujinshi series called Eva Fix. The artist is "Chocolate Shop"; the style they do their Evas in is homage-to-the-point-of-ripoff of Ikuto Yamashita.

I have seen the movie but the 'flash-by' was so fast I can't see in detail... & the pix on the net are not too clear as well... Yours is a good quality.

Maybe in 3.0 we'll see the 3 institutions trying to control the 3rd impact with their respective EVA's, Gendo with unit 01, Seele with unit 06 and Maybe Mari's boss's with another pilot in unit 08. o.O

Pd: in the 3.0 preview is any1 agree with me that unit 08 has a giant Halo (unit06-look like) ?

I think it's completely plausible. At this point who knows what's going to happen (it's kind of exciting).

Perhaps the pilot is a new Dummy Plug series (such as saying the ones Nerv released during the battle with 03 were test types?) and the Quickening refers to that, using the entry plug as reference to the womb instead? YEs, I ripped that partly from the Frued was Right page on TvTropes. >>
