what's the screaming when eva 01 rejects the dummy plug? when the entry plug is rejected, it shakes a bit and is accompanied by a man's scream. nerv personnel or something in the plug?

It's Bardiel in all likelihood, though it could be Asuka.

i should've specified, even though there's only one scene where 01 rejects the dummy plug, but i'm talking about the zeruel scene right before Shinji shows up.

Despite what Reichu will insist, it definitely sounds like a human scream. An adult male human scream. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing what it's supposed to be at this point and unless we find another bit of information hidden somewhere, all speculation will just be wild guessing.

Why the hell would the dummy plug scream when it's Unit 01 that rejects it? It is Unit 01 that makes the scream and not the dummy plug. And honestly,this might be one of those things we will never find out despite it being a minor detail.

If it's Eva-01, why doesn't it SOUND like Eva-01?

also, agreeing with Legend and other posts, its definitely the dummy plug screaming. We know what unit-01 sounds like when it screams.

1:36:19 on the blu ray rip. We see unit01 shaking around and moving, red eyes, then the dummy plug is ejected, the shot zooms to said plug, and we hear a long, low grating scream.

I alway's thought it was simply the entry plug scraping against the inside of the EVA as it was rejected but now you mention it it does sound like a human male scream.................

It is Eva. You do not need a reason for dummy plugs sounding like adult males screaming.

It's a DummyPlugg'd, Rei-fied NGE-Shinji screaming a la EoE due to Shogoki favoring the ballsier, rage-filled Rebuild-Shinji over it. :B

Perhaps in Rebuild there actually is a Rei clone inserted into the plug (contrary to original where people think the dummy plug itself is empty), and unit 01 rejecting it just gives us some Kentucky Fried Rei, hence the weird muffled scream.
Also we heard 01 screaming just a few seconds earlier, just to assure us that it isn't 01 screaming.

Okay, let's approach this logically...

Who is involved in this scene?

- Unit-01 and a rejected dummy plug

Is there any reason to believe anyone else is involved?

- No, not really.

What is going on?

- We see Unit-01 struggle and grunt, a dummy plug is then seen ejecting, the dummy plug is shaking. At the same time it is ejected a scream is heard.

What does the scream sound like?

- The scream is of ambiguous gender, muffled and very much in pain. It's not coming from something outside of or around Unit-01.
- Unit-01 has a deep, animalistic, mechanized roar which doesn't fit with the sound we are hearing, also with the plug ejected, there is no reason to believe Unit-01 is still making noise.

So what is doing the screaming?

- The dummy plug, we are looking at it when we hear the scream, and it is shaking, which implies something is going on inside the plug.

Why and how is it screaming?

- Hell if I know, it's probable that Unit-01 was very forceful about the rejection.
