Heh, with 02 and 01's cores gone it looks like 06-08 will need to defend humanity from the remaining angels.

If she turned into LCL, she's going to do what Shinji did after the battle with Zeruel in the original series. Shinji is a little preoccupied with an early Third Impact anyway.

My idea of how stuff went down:

1. Bardiel invaded. Asuka was pulled down into the Eva's core.

2. The Angel took over the core, creating the blue goo in the process.

3. After Unit-01 beat Unit-03 into a pulp, she bit down on the plug. The core disintegrated. Asuka's body became exposed again, and she was hit by shrapnels flying around in the plug, and one such piece of high speed debris hit her left eye.

Well, that is my reconstruction of the events.

Lol, well if that did happen, and Asuka was legitly killed, I’m sure that would piss a lot of people off and there is no doubt in my mind that Anno’s death threats would probably be way worse. Hope Anno hired some good security from the bag fulls of money that has been thrown at him if he did indeed do something like that.

Like most people in that business I'm sure Anno is used to people sending him hate mail or death threats.

No, I’m sure it’s Asukael, from all the talk it seems that Asuka did fuse/was physically contaminated by Bardiel, and that could have possibly screened her from what could otherwise have been a fatal impact, (the idea of contaminated Asuka being caught/wrapped in a fungal hyphae cocoon of sorts fits in perfectly with this) If she was wired in a sense with Bardiel the shriek could also have come from her scenes being tied with him.
By the time they had her in containment it seems like the signs of physical contamination had dissipated but I wouldn’t count on that(Bardi could have escaped death by embedding in her) it’s also possible that it could have centered it’s contamination on her eye. could have centered it’s contamination on her eye.

Eva 02's core may be gone but Eva 01's isnt.It's still where it's always been.

The interesting thing is she's wearing her old EVA-02 kit, and not the 03 suit that she wore going into the plug.

Note the blue collar that wasn't present in the 03 suit.

I'm approaching the teaser for 3.0 with trepidation. The most it offers is vague outlines. Looking at the teaser for 2.0 you can see how little of it is actually reflected in the final film. Each shot was drastically redrawn, framed differently, and had a different aesthetic. Mari had a vast "rebuild" even and went from looking at Crosses of Doom (which so many discussions were born from) to looking at Tokyo-3 in a small throwaway shot.

I'm sure everything that is shown in the 3.0 teaser will occur in the film but if this movie is still over a year away I would not be surprised if all these shots are axed or remade to better flow into the film. I'm counting on Pirate Asuka (if she even has a patch...I'd prefer massive scarring, less sexy) to have a whole new fancy dancy plugsuit myself.

Either way, we'll see within the next year or two I guess. With how long 2.o is taking to get to home video I'm putting my money on 2011.

Alright, lets say she is back which I mean she has to be from the trailer and she is not a clone..What about Unit 02, it got pretty messed up but of course they can rebuild the Eva but they can't rebuild her mothers soul.

^ So far, there has been no indication that the Rebuild version of Unit-02 ever contained a motherly soul.

I say that it would make a lot of sense if only Unit-01 would contain a human spirit this time around: why Shinji is the only one who can pilot it (Gendo from 1.0:"Only you can do it.") whereas the other Evas can have their pilots swapped around (Ritsuko from 2.0:"The Evas are combat weapons. Everything has a backup, even the pilots."), why Shinji could synch with her so quickly without any training at all, and generally, why 01 is just so special.

My personal fanwank is that Asuka will get the as of yet unmentioned Unit-07, which will strongly resemble a harpy. For great irony!

Since it's obvious Asuka never got turned into LCL, this thread has turned into "How did she survive", which we already have a thread for. Time for a merge.

seeing how she was screaming and such, she probably was not sitting in the plug suit at the time of the incident, for all we know shes moving around, flopping around, trying to get out, whatever. Her exact position in the plug could be anywhere.
