I'll explain. In the Final Fantasy intro, the main female character, Rinoa, gives a similar monologue in referrence to the game's protagonist, Squall. That Fujin pic was made with that scene in mind, kind of like the End of Pokemon pic you may have seen.

She goes all defensive when he first meets him, and in the battle between Shinji and Kaworu, Rei interferes. Now that I think about it was she actually helping him? I know that she shuts out everyone from the battle taking place, but for whose benifit? Also many of the fics I read have Rei against Kaworu, and from what I remember about EoE she was saying why not to have Instrumentality take place and Kaworu was pushing for it.
