He must be shocked by the joy that Hikari is getting out of piloting the Evangelion.

This is a great picture and just proves that she should of been able to pilot an Evangelion in the series even if it was onlt once, like Toji.

That was an image used a few months ago on the main page of Gainax's website. It's a good one, though acknowledging Kensuke as a pilot is a crime. I much prefer the idea of him being the only one who never actually gets to be a pilot. xD

Maybe Kensuke is shocked by how much Asuka's personality has rubbed off on Hikari. (Just look at her facial expression.)

Maybe Kensuke is shocked by how much more angelic butt Hikari is kicking than he and Touji are. (I don't really know what's happening; I'm guessing.)

Maybe the EVA-05 she's piloting has an onsen penguin head instead of the typical MP mug. Talk about your strange visual concepts... p'raps I should draw it.

Also, based on the copyright notice on the "Gainax group" pic, I'd say it WASN'T originally from the Gainax homepage.

I'm painfully racist in favor of my own kind (FYI I don't consider skin color to cause divergance of race) and any Evangelion that turns into an angel and beat the hell out of everyone gets called by its color by me personally.
