Oof. I guess I stand corrected.
And the more I look around Amazon, I wonder why anybody even bothers buying from the manufacturers. This stuff is beyond inexpensive. Note to self: check prices on internet before buying stuff from convention.
First I saw Lain for 63$ at one store, and then Funimation had it for 30$. If Amazon has it for 20$... forget being irritated with myself (even though it was only 10$ that I lost)- I'm just bothered at this point. Since Amazon is the seller, how the holy hell does Amazon manage to sell this stuff for this cheap?

Shin Evangelion brought me back, five long years later.

I still remember at my first con (Anime Expo '04) I bought a handful of anime that I could have bought much cheaper online, had I known at the time. Ah well, live and learn.
Also, I'm assuming this must be in the Museum District: http://www.texasflyinglegends.org/
I'll be damned if it doesn't sound awesome. Gotta check it out sometime!

And maybe check different countries, too. (I know this is less easy for you in the US, because it's harder for you to play R2 PAL DVDs than for Europeans to play R1 NTSC DVDs).
Last week I bought an out-of-print French CD. Amazon.co.uk had it for £50; Amazon.com had it for $50, but more shipping; Amazon.ca had it for $55; Amazon.fr had it for €60; Amazon.de had it for €15...
I have found similar divergences in anime, which is why about half my collection is R1 and and half R2 (also a couple of R4 from Australia).

Yeah, I still need to watch the TV series from Season 2 on after seeing sporadic eps back in the day from that and season 3 or so on. Have you seen the OVA that came out a few years ago and the live action version?

I remember watching this a few years back and thinking the short before it (Rumic World) was adorable with all the other Rumiko character cameos. Definitely recommend it for fun.

Ranma is a guilty pleasure for me. . . Looking back the humor wasn't that good, Happosai was obnoxious and annoying, the animation was limited, the nudity unnecessary, and it lasted waaaay too long for my tastes. But I still enjoy watching it from time to time.
The OVA was decent, if all else fails at least the animation and fight Choreography was a lot better.

I tracked down the CD containing this version of Cruel Angel's Thesis (from the thread on favourite versions of it) because I love it so, and it arrived today. It looks like this:
The notes tell me that the singer's birthday is tomorrow (5 Aug).

The singer is Eri Kawai, and she has a wonderful voice.
Very sadly, she's no longer with us- she died from liver cancer in 2008. She was only 43.
