[TV] Is it time for the Simpsons to go?
I read this article, http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/TV/12/14/simpsons.anniversary.end/index.html and I was wondering what all of you actually think. Is it time for the Simpsons to leave the TV stage?

It should have died when Futurama first aired. I haven't watched the Simpsons in many, many years.

Sure, The Simpson's has lost it touch, but it's far from horrible. Even if an episode doesn't provoke an actual laugh from me, I can at least think 'Hey, that was actually kind of clever. It's not like the newer episodes of Family Guy that just make wish the show had stayed canceled. That was a decline so rapid, it could twist heads off like a cork-screw.
"Now, from Nature we obtain abundant information about ourselves, and precious little about others. About the woman you clasp in your arms, can you say with certainty that she does not feign pleasure? About the woman you mistreat, are you quite sure that from abuse she does not derive some obscure and lascivious satisfaction? Let us confine ourselves to simple evidence: through thoughtfulness, gentleness, concern for the feelings of others we saddle our own pleasure with restrictions, and make this sacrifice to obtain a doubtful result." -The Divine Marquis

I've found the Simpsons to be unwatachable since at least season 13.
He shuddered a bit, remembering the somewhat creepy level of detail Kaji had gone into, while rubbing a watermelon in a disturbingly sexual way.

Well some of the new episodes have been dull but like I said previously a few have been really good and the Christmas episode that aired last Sunday was the first episode in the season 21 production line and so far it's the best one from the 21st season.

The last Simpsons I watched was the movie and before that I had abandoned it for a many years(I've probably only seen the first 5 or 6 seasons). So, I suppose I really don't care.
At its peak, it was brilliant, though.

The Simpsons would probably find an audience even if it no longer had any jokes at all. The few episodes I've seen from later seasons tend to go something like this:
Homer: "Marge, get my ranch dressing hose. Do iiit." (shakes fist)
Random Celebrity A: "I am a celebrity."
Random Celebrity B: "As am I. May I have my check now?"

I have said that for 10 yearscyharding wrote:Is it time for the Simpsons to leave the TV stage?
but as long as it turns a profit for FOX, it will stay on the air, even if IMO it has seen its best days

The Simpsons used to be great. Now it's really just good for a chuckle or two. However, it is far from the worst thing on TV. There are scores of horrid reality shit on other channels, and everything done by Seth McFarland is much worse. Let's talk about canning those programs before getting rid of The Simpsons.
Awesomely Shitty

-the only English language novel actually being developed in parallel to its Japanese version involving a pan-human Soviet in a galactic struggle to survive and to export the communist utopia/revolution to all the down trodden alien class and race- one of the premise being that Khrushchev remains and has abandoned Lysenko stupidity
