Those 3 people are quite famous in Japan. The man and the older woman (Tsubaki Oniyakko) are comedians. The young girl (Kato Natsuki) is an actress+tv celebrity who is a self-appointed "otaku". She even cosplayed Asuka on TV program and sang Eva karaoke:

Someone who is watching more of this season's anime than I might be able to provide the source of an image on /a/ this morning which played off the elevator scene with subs to the effect "if you open your heart, you wouldn't need to strip so often.'

if it had shitty art it's probably that tennis anime (softenni?). It had tons of eva parodies last month (perhaps the bit was from there). For example the Shinji Rei ep 5 elevator scene parody was there too IIRC

This is especially horrible when you keep in mind that Shinji's hands are bandaged from the battle...

under the "Attention Please"; and noting the date this was actually posted back in January. Still can't identify it.

The title is at the top of the page: 這いよる!ニャルアニ, HaiyoreNyaruko, a flash anime in Nico Nico that not many watched. You can find the official page here
http://ga.sbcr.jp/bunko_blog/nyaruani/
Given that there is NO wiki entry in English, I bet few in the west know about this anime.
It was adapted from light novel and each episode has only 4 minutes. The season that ended in February this year was already its second season. I think the objective is to increase the sales of the original novel although I am not sure how successful it is (given a second season was made perhaps the gain outweighed the cost)

Here's something that anon pointed out. Is Decisive Battle a Bond reference?

Similarly, Gunbuster seems to be recycling Gustav Holst:

I think this came up before in some thread. It was just very intentional homage or then Sagisu just showing strong Barry influence. I suspect former given the whole retrofeel Eva has

More Softenni/Eva comparisons, in case somebody who actually watches the former wants to add them to the wiki.

^ That's the episode Xard and I watched together. We had quite a laugh then. I wonder if the original manga contains those reference (I doubt it).

This week's episode of The World God Only Knows II had a few dialogue screens from a very familiar looking dating sim. Will try to get screen caps this weekend if someone else doesn't beforehand.

Edit: this is episode 10, by the way. What do people think, is it a reference?

In Full Metal Panic! (i believe it is episode 14) Cicadas are heard, and they are identical in sound to the ones heard throughout NGE.

Well, I would kind of assume both shows use recordings of a real species, so...

I heard this background sound effect on several shows, so I think this is a standard foley sound clip.

Unless you've been there, you can't appreciate just how loud the cicadas can be during summer in Japan or Korea.

This thread -- http://forum.evageeks.org/viewtopic.php?t=11546 -- is relevant for the topic of cicada song.

I've been to Australia and they can be plenty loud enough there; like the audio equivalent of the shimmer of heat haze.

Basically, we're saying that it's nearly obligatory for a Japanese summer scene to use those sound effects.

(We get them here on the East Coast of the US, but only every seventeen years, in what is a spectacular sight).

Actually, its a thirteen year development in the East Coast. To add, they don't have synchronized development. It may be a thirteen year development, but it isn't at the same time.

Edit: Scratch that, there are some seventeen year species, but thirteen year species are more common.
