This is apparently it www.nicovideo.jp/watch/1426822594 (seems like an official NGE site it's linked back to) though seems no way to view it unless you have a Japanese IP.

You have to log into Nico Nico which is fine and good, but then the proxies don't want to work or aren't secure.

I 've just uploaded, on youtube ... hopefully not be deleted soon

https://youtu.be/3DVH964cwkw

the quality is horrible ... it is difficult to evaluate the quality of the new master.

That is completely worthless for judging the quality of the remaster...

Is that the quality of the original video? Would be odd if they uploaded the first view of it in anything less than 1080p...

Even if you have Premium, niconico has always been absolutely horrible for encoding so it's would not in any way be representative of the source.

Yeash.... I think the colors might look better than the Perfect:Platinum I have, but even then it’s hard to tell. The video is just awful.

Hopefully we get a trailer or TV spot from Khara themselves on their website. (Does Khara even have an official YouTube channel?)

It should also be noted that footage of the opening is not a useful way to judge the remaster.

The show itself was shot on 16mm film. However, opening and ending animation is pretty much always shot on 35mm film. This is done because in the olden days all the credit text had to be optically composited. With each optical composition step the quality degrades so it's always best to start with higher quality, thus 35mm film for the raw animation. Since credit text can vary from episode to episode what happens is they take the 35mm master, add the text layer and photograph that onto 16mm film for every specific episode.

Once you're in the digital era though what usually happens is they just take the clean 35mm master and add all the credits digitally. That will look much cleaner and not a useful indication of actual episode footage.

Why vimeo? Just put it on pomf or some other file sharing site, though Nico is shit to start with.

comparsion: Left: DVD Platinum (ita) Right: PV

NOTE: the source of the pv is very low in quality, so don't compare definition or compression, this comparison is only for colors-things

The new footage looks slightly warmer in tone than the Platinum DVD. I knew something was going on there. Though, the compression might be messing with the colors as well. I’m noticing that the gradient behind Fuyutsuki is a but more gradual in the DVD than the one behind him in the new, horribly compressed video.

Seems like the aspect ratio is the same as the original, was hoping for a change there.

Ya, that's the kind of thing you don't want to mess with!
I mean, predictability is the central attraction and the narrative hook that we've all come to expect from the Evangelion franchise. How come Anno can't realize this? Twice? - FreakyFilmFan4ever

You can have one - it's informally known as Rebuild (the aspect ratio even changes between the second and third films!).

The change in aspect ratio through cropping the ONLY this I dislike about Eva Death. We need not hack off the tops of all the cross-shaped explosions in the TV episodes as well.
