Evangelion 2.0 OST Track List

Hey guys,

Basically I've managed to get my hands on a copy of Evangelion 2.0 OST thanks to my friend yet the names for the tracks on Disc one seem completely nonsensical. They seem to be a bunch of numbers and letters with a odd word thrown in for good measure here and there. Some tracks I can recognise myself like Misato's Theme yet other tracks new for the movie have left me stumped. If anyone can put me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Do you mean something like this:

I think that the 2EM##_## naming scheme is used by Sagisu, many tracks from Nadia OSTs and the S2 Works are named like that (usually he uses a less complex scheming, he overdid himself with the Rebuild).

*sighs* So in other words there's no Sagisu to English translator available then = P

I know I might seem picky but I do like my songs on my ipod to be easily recognised and I do not want to spend ages trying to work out which one is that cool sax track is.

I guess I could always name them after the scenes themselves....

Just out of curiosity, do you know why Sagisu names his tracks in the way he does? Does it all make more sense in Japanese and its kinda lost in translation so to speak?

KK = Karekano for those who didn't know. (Obviously, the Yamashita piece is from that film The Man Who Stole The Sun, but that was discussed elsewhere.)

Erm would you mind explaining what 'Karekano' is? I assume its not just a name of a song seeing as multiple tracks have 'KK' next to them and they do not seem to be different variations of the same song.

An anime that Anno adapted from a manga (but was forced to quit) while Shiro Sagisu did the music for the series.

So some of my favourites tracks from 2.0 are actually from a totally different project altogether. Talk about cross referencing.

The thread you linked to was an interesting read. Its nice to see Anno and Sagisu putting a great deal of effort into the OST's even if the majority of it is wasted on the Western World (Unless you do a lil bit of digging of course).

All I know is that 2EM means "Second Evangelion Movie". Other than that, I can't help you.
NGE was a damned good anime
EoE was an anime masterpiece
And Rebuild is nothing short of epic
Long live the EVAs!!

Japanese soundtrack production seems to involve a list of desired pieces being written up by the director (or whomever) and given to the composer. The pieces are designated via production codes (usually according to an alphanumerical scheme of some sort; e.g., for a movie, it's very common to see M-1, M-2, etc.) and don't actually have "real titles" to start with.

So what you're seeing on Disc 1 are the naked production titles of the pieces as used in the film -- the designations of the specific edits, and everything. The ones that were given titles are full-length versions heard only on the soundtrack's second disc.

As Shin-chan said, the production code naming system is much more complex with the NME soundtracks than with Sagisu's previous works.

Thank your for the detailed explanation, Reichu. And thanks for that link, SSD, I've translated some infos about Tsubasa wo Kudasai from the French wikipedia and submitted them in that thread.

Might not be too helpful but track 30 is called "Thanato's" and track 32 is called "The Beast II" or "Sin From Genesis". Both names work really. And track 25 is called "The Beast". That's all I got since I dont particulary care too much for the other tracks.
