Oh yeah, forgot to mention.. the actual queue:

0) Inserting Entry Plug = Inserting Penis into V-jj

1) EVAs action = Penis action

2) Breaking of AT Field = Penetration

3) Angel's Core = Clitoris

4) Explosion after Angel is defeated = Orgasm

5) Ejecting Entry Plug = pull out Penis

Well, considering how sex deprived certain characters are, and Gendo's plan is basically to end humanity to bang his dead wife, it's pretty much Anno's metaphor for how he can't get laid and was thus depressed and made this show.

That obviously changed, strangely enough due to this.

I just think it's just supposed to be an exciting battle scene, but if it is thats just [s]sexy[/s] odd.

Hello class.

I would like to make an observation about Star Wars.

It's a movie in which lots and lots of very very small things attempt to breach the defences of a single very very large spherical thing. And only one succeeds.

What are these very very small things called, you ask?

X-wings and Y-wings.

That is all.
Proud fan of the ADV TV dub.
And the on-air episodes.
And Magma Diver.

Sorry.

ponders the significance of the whiny hero piloting an X wing rather than a Y

All the Y-wings explode, too.

^^ related? Warning, may be offending to prudes.

sanity  SPOILER: Show
Male bonobos, too, may engage in pseudocopulation but generally perform a variation. Standing back to back, one male briefly rubs his scrotum against the buttocks of another. They also practice so-called penis-fencing, in which two males hang face to face from a branch while rubbing their erect penises together.

Well, let us not forget, the X chromosome is larger, hardier, and universal to the human experience.

I believe NGE has more of a Sexual Metaphor context than any other 'western' movies.... it's just how Japanese story tellers are wired.....

Here's a crazy thought. Hang on 'cause it's really insane:

1) EVAs = EVAs

2) Breaking of AT Field = Breaking of AT Field

3) Angel's Core = Angel's Core

4) Explosion after Angel is defeated = Explosion after Angel is defeated

How about it?

Evangelion is a complicated anime sure. But it also has it's eyecandy stuff. My opinion is that those battle elements are just there to make it look cool. And it does.

can't blame anno for being half crazy, depressed, short on budget and being horny... eva was his way of expressing himself at that time, in a way

but what i feel is this:
1. eva = incest
2. at field = rape
3. core = heart
4. explosion after angel defeated = took virginity

Following that logic, when Kaworu takes over unit-2, Shinji is fantasizing to have sex with his best friend, clothed in the image of Asuka. Killing Kaworu represents Shinji overcoming his immaturity.

I didn't read all the posts, so sorry if someone else already said this.

@Gengar: Wellll....

- Corrosion of the A.T. Field can result in bliss, terror, or both. (for example: 23, EoE)
- Cores have been used to represent female genitals. (clitoris, womb, vagina)
- We've seen Evas enter ecstatic states and even orgasm when their cores are penetrated.

The "cigar is just a cigar" interpretation is a bit too naive. While no straight 1:1 correlation is presented anywhere, sexual metaphors are abso-friggin-everywhere.

So, yes... On one level, Eva-00 broke Sahaquiel's hymen, Eva-02 raped her with a vibrating dildo, and the Angel exploded with orgasm.

I've always been from the school of thought that sexual imagery is only there if you are specifically seeking it out.

I could interpret plugging a cord into my IPod in order to charge it as a metaphor for penetration and male empowerment if I wanted to. That's not to say none exists, but I usually only accept really damn obvious ones as legitimate sexual metaphors.

In other words, if the creators aren't vulva-palms-blatant about their inner :freud: , it is us who are the perverts if we notice anything ... "psychoanalytic"?

If so, I think you're giving Anno and friends "too much credit" (or, alternatively, not enough), if you know what I mean.

I'll use the thread you linked to as an example. Half of those are in the 'really damn obvious' category, but the other half are defiantly in the 'if you look for it' category. It's like calling every sword a phallic symbol, some are...but most aren't.

Also, everyone's perverted...except asexual people.
