XD Shnooks and I (and another one of our friends) all wore NERV shirts the day Eva premiered on AdultSwim and told everyone in school "Happy Third Impact Day~!!"

When asked WTF we were talking about, we told them the world was ending.

NGE replaced partially world of warcraft for me, I used to spend my time all day playing wow(My mage's stuck at lvl54 because of evangelion=( ), but nowadays I spend all my time reading evangelion fanfics and finding more info about evangelion to understand the series/movies perfectly.

Yeah... I cans see NGE feuling depression - at least with how my first viewing of EoE left me wishing for a gun. NGE replaced just about everything for me... sad really. To tell you the truth, I compare absolutelly everything to Eva - if it doesn't compare, I'm not interested -- I only have an anime collection of about five.

I don't know, Evangelion certainly didn't help my depression... But I could seriously attribute Evangelion to keeping me alive. When I first found Evangelion I was a happy-go-lucky traumatized kid that suddenly realized that puberty was setting in and that the world was full of hatred which only could succumb for the hatred I felt for myself.

Not much later I hit the rock bottom of my depression and was seriously thinking about killing myself. That's when I really got into Evangelion and seriously was the only reason I lived for a year or so...

Hey, I admit it, I was seriously only alive because of Evangelion and partially because I wanted to die in the coolest way possible... Being shot out of a huge cannon at a wall of cows, just to have them turn into pudding and drowning myself in lucious chocolate pudding...

What it replaced after having watched the whole series and Death and Rebirth [Air] as well as the End of Evangelion, was my mental stability.
It's gone now... I'm at a true borderline case. I don't act as usually anymore, and I start shaking out of nowhere, whenever something about Dosaa or Nigouki comes into my subconcious.
I, kinda scare myself now.

Another thing it replaced for me was TV. I don't turn my TV on anymore, so I don't watch anything at all.

Opportunities to do other ("better") things with my time. Arguably I would be more 'balanced' and 'happy' now if I didn't have a hardcore NGE obsession to distract me. It may only be providing a fantasy world within which I might escape, a place where I feel important and part of something, to avoid having to face my lingering adultescence, my RL loneliness, the poor relationship I've developed with my artistic side...

But arguably, I might be dealing with all of these problems in a world without NGE, too. Aspies like myself have an acute talent for finding things to be obsessed with. (Because NGE, it was paleontology.)
