Yeah, about a month before. The timeframe makes sense.

Tears of joy! I actually wish I didn't know it was exactly 100 days, now my brain is going to do a countdown and it's going to be brutal.
I mean, predictability is the central attraction and the narrative hook that we've all come to expect from the Evangelion franchise. How come Anno can't realize this? Twice? - FreakyFilmFan4ever

Man, it only took like, almost a decade, but here we are. XD

Now all I hope for is a satisfying conclusion and for it to not end up anticlimactic or Eva's equivalent to Matrix Revolutions.

While it's disappointed to know I won't be able to go see the film in Japan like I originally planned - even if I took every precaution imaginable travel restrictions (rightly) will most likely still be in place come January - it really is blowing my mind right now to know that after ALL THIS TIME if no more delays happen then by this time next year I could be able to sit down and watch the entire film series back to back in my home.

Makes me wonder if GKids, who are completists and do everything they can to acquire a filmmaker's entire body of work, will try to get the rights to the Rebuilds so they can have the entirety of Evangelion on hand. They clearly can outbid Funimation who so desperately wanted NGE and some of the rights Funimation has to the first three films have to be expired or near it.

I'm more concerned about the inevitable box-set Khara will have that has features the individual releases didn't.
Please just call me Ian, "TheFrisky" is more of a title.

On one hand, I'm elated. Finally it's coming, it looks nice.
On the other hand, I'm sad, as I won't be able to see it in theaters - tho I heard rumbles of them planning for it being shown worldwide at conventions in the summer (akin to AVANT). So maybe.

The Japanese people trashing Eva are just children who haven't been part of society for too long. No grown-up "ranks franchises" like that.

January 23 is awesome, I'm excited we're getting Shin this soon. I thought they'd wait a bit, but it seems they're going full speed ahead at their earliest convenience. On the other hand, Shin Ultraman is still intended to release this year, so it's entirely possible Khara is going to release Shin this early partly because that already has a summer opening set and they don't want to have these two films compete.

Anyways, this is a good day to be an Eva fan. I just hope we can get Shin subbed quickly too.

So the Japanese Blu-ray could be out around June 2021? That's when most of us get to actually see the film.

If it's going to be a quick turnover, yes. Japanese movie to home media cycles tend to be slower, for instance Made in Abyss opened in cinemas on 17th of January and dropped onto Blu-Rays in late September. 2.22 almost took a year (but was updated with two completely new scenes), while Q to 3.33 took just a little over half a year. Considering the rumors that there were big deals in place to simultaneously show Shin worldwide like they did for AVANT and assuming these deals are still in place for 2021 I could see them biding these screenings before releasing the Blu-Rays.

I'm already praying that the DVD boxsets will contain some Director Cuts that didn't make it in the theatrical versions. But I don't think Anno will go that far with Evangelion anymore, he's served us long enough.

Q was the quickest of the 3 movies to get a BD because it had no new scenes. I think we could be waiting a while if they plan to make an extended cut for the home video release.

The third film was released in theaters in Japan on November 17, 2012 and came out on Blu-ray on April 24, 2013. That's only 5 months. And considering that Anno has had an extra 6 months to polish the 4th film, I don't think the Blu-ray version is going to have additional material in it which means the Blu-ray will come out relatively fast.

I'm worried Toho might decide to delay a BD release. Movies like Weathering With You take almost a year. What is good is WWY came with English subs.

Give me Shin in summer with subs and I'll be as happy as I'll ever be.

3.0 was 5 months, yeah. I remember how excited I was when the BD was announced far sooner than expected.

Anticipate an end of the year disc release in 2021 and that way you'll be joyously and pleasantly surprised if it happens much Much sooner.
