I'm watching Excel Saga. It's pretty stupid, and I didn't expect better (okay, maybe I did a little) but it'll be nice to watch on the treadmill.

@Robersora

How can you be so cold?

Image

The Music in frontier was excellent! Megumi and May'n put their all into the music, and the dynamic between them is what makes the show work. Not to mention the choreography of both the fights and concert scenes is really something to be admired. Even with the somewhat limited CGI.

Take for example the "My Boyfriend Is A Pilot" Scene at the pageant in episode 4. The scene sets up everyone and progresses character development simoultaneously, Alto coming into his own as a pilot, and Ranka finally realizing she has feelings for him. As the scene cuts between Ranka singing at the pageant and Alto in the dogfight.

That scene did everything right.

Utterly boring? Ranka disagrees.

I mean seriously, how can you not love that face?

How am I cold? I'm just being honest. Also, I really am annoyed, that I can't seem to enjoy Macross (except for Frontier. Frontier was outright distressing)

Well, you can argue about the music... Personally it wasn't just not my cup of tea, I felt it was outright awful. Like some of the worst music I've heard in Anime to date. But that's ok, not everybody can like everything. You might not like the chillaxed beats of Samurai Champloo, which would be totally understandable and ok with me, y'know.
But yes, I chose to ignore the music, because due to the fantastic animation in the first Episodes, it was bearable for me. But then they started to drop the ball somewhere simultaneously when the characters started to act even more idiotic and the story went full soap-opera.
Also I don't care if somebody gives everything they've got. If it's not good enough of a product, I won't buy it.

Well, it might have been well directed; I honestly can't remember those scenes. But from your description it doesn't change the fact, that what was happening, was Soap Opera material.
I'm sorry, Macross F is just an accumulation of all my dislikes in the entertainment industry. I'm outright appalled by it. Now even more, than I was back then. Of course, everybody can enjoy it, if they wish to, but for me it just doesn't work.

If it only was just utterly boring. It was utterly disgusting and appalling.

View Original PostRay wrote:Ranka disagrees.

That annoying bitch should be thrown into a meat processing machine along with the rest of the cast. Except for Alto, he can suck my dick prior to that. I'm sorry, I really hated them all. And honestly, if I have to hear Cherry's or Ranka's annoying voice one more time, I'm gonna fly to Japan and slap the actress in the face.

Maybe it's because I'm gay.

Both, Macross F and Kill La Kill went full out to entertain, Kill la Kill was just more up my alley it seems.
So we agree to disagree, which is fine by me.

We had the Macross F discussion already... But this time it was a proper rant, so let's see.... It's been too long since a Xard-post anyway...

makurosu is better than that at least

oh yeah I watched hanamono last week, 9/10 kaiki bits were even more 24k comedy gold than usual. new character designs didn't disappoint either, college araragi is inherently hilarious.

Thanks for the feedback on Macross Frontier, guys. I'll certainly make sure to stock up more episodes as time goes by.

On to other anime, I ordered by VHS copy of the Streamline Pictures dub of Akira. I didn't order the Funimation DVD because i'm more than somewhat cheap and Amazon is doing a shitty job of getting my orders sooner than later as I am still waiting for another item so eBay was the way to go for ordering Akira. I know Cam Clarke is the voice of Kaneda in that dub so that's something to look forward to as I am a fan of his work. For those of you who have seen and heard the Streamline dub before, what am I in for that will hopefully either make it a different (and better) experience from the Pioneer dub?

Up to episode 3 of Denno Coil, it's pretty interesting kind of reminds me of Digimon tamers. This show came to me highly recommended so we will see where it goes.

Terror in Resonance Episode 8:

SPOILER: Show

I knew the 'Lisa runs away and gets captured' episode would come sooner or later, but they still managed to make it pretty interesting.

Megumi Han seems to have improved her English a bit since a few episodes ago, or maybe she just knows 'London Bridge' really well.

Five captures Lisa and paints her nails (I guess that's supposed to be her quirk).

Twelve seems oddly attached to Lisa, the OP video made me assume he was going to be a sort of psychopathic manchild-type character but it seems he's suddenly become the hero.

This episode had a few nice songs, although I still prefer the bike scene song (Is).

I'm in the middle of watching Monster... Which is awesome, I hope it stays as good for the whole run! Didn't think a 10 year old 75 Episode series could be of such quality.

I needed a break of all sombreness though, so I thought Persona 4 the Golden would be the right amount of kitsch for a break. It certainly was... But I don't think, I can take more than one Episode of this pandering, lol.

Next up is Kill la Kill Special... :3 I don't want it to end.

Monster is one of the best anime ever made, maybe even one of the best shows, anime or not. It could be plodding but there's a lot of story to cover.

It's one of the more satisfying anime endings out there, IMO.

Senran Kagura
Thoroughly bad character/story wise.

I kept watching this only because I wanted to see lewd girls doing lewd things.

Ping Pong: The Animation
Image

Just finished this the other day and I absolutely love it. From one of my favourite directors (Masaaki Yuasa) and with one of my favourite Japanese musicians doing the soundtrack (Agraph/Kensuke Ushio) I just can't get enough of it. I think I've watched the last 2 episodes about 3 or 4 times each.

Recently acquired Kick-Heart too, so I'm looking forward to watching that.
