Concerning Clocky, I'd say that his appearance wasn't what I expected but it was still cool.

Ok, i have a question for you all, you know when Asuka air kicks Clockiel there is a spike thing on the eva's foot, Did it come out of the eva or was it one of the crossbow gun's spikes stuck on the AT field. I personally think it is a new feature in the eva production model, but...

"Shut your face!"

Peace Out!

I thought she'd shot it with the crossbow and then used her foot to push it into the Angel's AT-Field... but I may be wrong, it's been a while since I last saw that scene. :sweatdrop:

Yes, it was one of the "arrows" from the crossbow.

Here's a few pics for Clockiel.

And the battleships go boom. Talk about bloody murder.

The last shot provides a distant view of Clockiel's cruciform head transformation, in case anyone was wondering what the heck was going on with that first closeup of its head (ticktock, ticktock, BOOM!).

I'll add some HD shots later if someone doesn't beat me to it. (Reichu = OCD = has to label everything by cut number.)

Anyone think Othniel's a hydrokinetic? I mean, he freezes water and forms his cross beams from them so....

Aren't the projectiles shot out of crossbows called 'bolts'?

Too much Dungeons and Dragons :S

@Reichu [code:1]Yes, it was one of the "arrows" from the crossbow.[/code:1]

I am not speaking about the angels head, just mentioning that bolts are shot out of crossbows as arrows are shot from bows.

A poor D&D joke =(

Are you trying to imply something about the Angel's head?

Just in case. Eva-02 was shooting from uberelektromagnetischen armbrust or superelectromagnetic crossbow. (Sounds banally, huh?)

Yes, they are.

Oh, that's nothing...

She actually fired SEVERAL bolts, all perfectly on target and stacked up in a single tall pile end-to-end (yes, while still freefalling). When she does the kick she drives the last bolt through the rest of the stack, splitting each below it on the way in.

Yes, it's really that stupid.

From those images: the basic structure of Clockiel, and the way it destroys 10 of the battleships at once and fires 9 or 10 of those black beams/arms at Unit 02 - it gives me the feeling that it's meant to be another Tree of Life reference. I can't reconcile the various knobs on the structure with the 10 sephiroth though.
Not exactly a gentleman.

bah, this is just Matariel 2.0. No wonder it was killed by a few bolts.

Well, not everyone is Shinji who has to be in a fixed position on the ground with high end sniping equipment to make a clean hit out of two shots, you know.

Eh, the worst part about Clockiel was the Rider-kick. Up until then, the whole affair felt like a smooth, professional military incursion (Itano-circus included), but with the kick it just got terribly stupid.

I agree, despite the fact that I really enjoyed this scene. This was the point when the Rebuild movies reached Super Robot status as opposed to the seemingly constant Robot status it had been maintaining up until then.

I liked it. It made me laugh in a good way.

What else makes me laugh is questioning the reality of Asuka's acrobatics given the fact that she's tucked inside a 200 ft tall monster possessed by her dead mother.

The whole 'Rider-kick' sequence is no more stupid than some of the things we've seen in the series. 'Dance like you want to win' anyone?
I just think they were trying to keep a lighter mood early on in the film, before shit got real.

So what is Clockiel the angel of; is he Salgiel, the angel of snow/ice; is he Eth, angel of time; is he Attarib, angel of winter; is he Sameron, angel of the twelfth hour of the day? Perhaps Baradiel, angel of hale?
