Also I think this is the first (and the last) time an Utada Rebuild single has actual Eva characters on the covers. Beautiful World has a totally unrelated image, then that God!Shogoki sketch for the remix, and finally a drawing of Utada herself by Sadamoto for Sakura Nagashi. Closing the saga with Shinji and Rei feels rather poetic, especially with one of the interpretations for Beautiful World is Rei's feelings for Shinji.

Yeah, it's interesting to think that the whole journey's spanned 13 years and Utada has been part of it throughout. And I can't begin to imagine how RxS shippers will react to this title!

Well, RxS is the only thing close to an actual ship in rebuild, so it would be weird to reverse course to AxS at this point.

Same! I know some people aren't happy with Utada's contributions since they feel too "pop" for Eva, but I think her songs fit really well in and out of the films' context and added a sense of prestige for Rebuild in general. Would've been anticlimactic and frankly annoying if other artist suddenly took over her place for the final film.

After Q my best hope for his fate was "I'm glad if it's not worse than death"
Also, I'm hoping that the sketch of Rei is more than a coincidence, please let her have screentime and a satisfying conclusion to her character arc

I don't expect any actual smooching of any kind tho, the slice of life part of the plot is beyond over

I don't know about 1.0 and 2.0, but the "Music From Evangelion: 3.0" album was released nearly two weeks after the film's premiere, so just be prepared to wait a little bit longer to hear Sagisu's score.

Kinda worried now about future orders, becuase, while you could order the vynil on amazon, the CD was listed but didn't ship to my adress, now it is not available. I've decided to order through CDJapan, and hope customs don't become an issue (customs office here is just ugh). I don't wanna leave the house for that crap.

Usually anything khara related I could just instantly order through amazon.

If you want my humble opinion.....as always people overthink things too much.

1st, She is Rei Q, so no chance of shipping

2nd, Is not unusual to release albums with different covers. More usual if we are talking about differences between cd and LP releases. Out there anime is larger than Evangelion, and the franchise shares the same market tactics. Yeah, It's fucking marketing. Evangelion has not invented the covers with diferent faces. For Kahra, the three children are just very profitable mascots. It there were casette releases, guess who would be in the cover?

IMHO, the original Rei is not gonna come back, the same way Rei II died in the original series. Shinji has to deal with his selfish acts if he wanna grow as a human. And for the drama , of course.

And I dont think there is gonna be shipping in the movie : AxS is pretty hard (this is not the TV series and EOE) and Fuyutsuki spit the truth in the viewers face "She is a fuckung clone of his mum. The best he can call her is 'sister, so deal with it".

But who knows what's gonna happen? This is Rebuild, a retelling for newer audiencies with the goal of grabbing as much cash as possible. Anything could happen. I know that this is not the place to talk about the topic, but for me spin offs like Petit Eva or Anima are way more enjoyable for a fan of the original series than this bastardization of the franchise.

I am completely aware of this practice for Japanese releases, especially in idol business where a mere single could have multiple editions with different covers and tracklists, hence why I said "first time for Rebuild".

After the previous theme songs' singles mostly not having explicitly Eva-related covers, there's this immediate strong reaction when the final one suddenly has not one but two cover arts featuring Shinji and Rei each. Whether it's merely for variations which means extra cash because obviously some people are going to get both editions or hinting a thematic link to the song's lyrics, we don't know yet.

As I said, I never particularly shipped anyone in Eva because the characters' relationships are way too complex and deep to be "shipped" for me, but from a non-shipper eye it's easy to notice how Rebuild leans more on Shinji and Rei's relationship, I'm invested with their story and how it will resolve in the end.

Are you seriously saying that "silent CGI comedy version" and "Asuka transforms into a giant sexy cyborg" are both better than the Rebuilds? I'm not the biggest Rebuild fan, but the circlejerk about that version being a soulless cashgrab and the worst thing ever is just way too much. In my opinion, it's by far the best Eva AU, especially when compared to some of the other stuff out there. And also, the Rebuilds are much more toyetic than the original show, but 3.0 completely destroyed the idea of the Rebuilds being "soulless cashgrabs that only exist to make money." Like it or not, those movies have a clear artistic direction and a message to send. I doubt that Petit Eva and Anima can say that much.
