This next film is going to be all talk and no action isn't it?? The only fight scenes will revolve around Asuka and everything else will be "deep" conversation... :shinchair:

I'm counting on that.

Hopefully the inside of Unit 01 looks totally wacky and David Lynchian. This is what I want.

Edit: I suddenly envision a scene of Kawrou lip-synching Roy Orbison's "In Dreams" in front of a captive Shinji. I want that too.

Why do they even want the Loc-Nar? All it does is melt you.

I hope not, I want Asuka to be all kinds of fucked up after being ninthed. I want her to freak the fuck out when the entry plug seals around her. Have PTSD flashbacks to Unit-01 ripping her apart when she syncs with Unit-02. And, I want her to hate everyone.

Well sure, that'd be what I'd file under deep conversation scenes. Slow scenes that aren't about running or falling out of planes. Weird scenes. Scenes with atmosphere. Do that.

This piano stuff actually gets me really hyped for 3.0.

Having said that; a more 'conventional' trailer wouldn't go amiss, haha.

I hope the piano piece is 20 minutes long by the 28th. Anno knows we're too weak not to spoil things for ourselves, so he's giving us nothing. Good on you, Anno.

I know. I was surprised I didn't cave in and watch a bootleg of 2.0 before its U.S. theatrical release.

Hopefully the interior of Unit-01 is very non-Euclidean... :cthulhu:

Calling it now: Q in its entirety will be a Kaworu-hosted piano concert, followed by a repeat of the same preview from the end of 2.0. What's another three years of waiting, right?

You know, for a while I was worried that Anno had become sane. My fears are assuaged.

My first thought upon reading this was one of revulsion.

But, after more thinking, I can see the point you're trying to make. I seriously doubt that NERV would do such a thing - for starters, you might as well retire Asuka if that happens.

If she starts out hating everyone, it is highly likely that "everyone" includes herself. If she suffers from PTSD, I'm guessing it's Kaworu trying to fuck with her mind. As we've seen in 2.0, Asuka does have a split personality. If Kaworu is as cold as he was at the end of 2.0, I'm guessing he would try to invent another personality in Asuka's mind - one of a jeering little bully, mocking every single one of Asuka's failures. If the title "You Are (Not) Alone" can apply to 2.0 (just with the (not) bit removed), then perhaps "You Can (Not) Advance" could apply to 3.0 - Asuka is advancing past this trauma. Whether she does it with or without external help is unknown right now.

You'll recall that Gendo, at least, was perfectly willing to use Asuka as bait against Armisael, despite Asuka's abysmal synch scores at that point. It's just that she was so out of it that she couldn't even get 02 to move. Shinji was deployed with no training against a monster that had stood up against a nuclear-equivalent weapon while in an Eva that hadn't been tested and kept giving them problems. Even Misato nearly killed Asuka once in Magma Diver. Good thing there was another child soldier there to dive into a volcano without proper equipment to save her.

NERV doesn't care about the Children at all. Not, anyway, as human beings. I wouldn't be surprised to see them deploy a mentally unstable Asuka at all, if they were reasonably comfortable she'd attack the enemy and not NERV HQ.

I'm kind of curious as to why no one's taken note of the fact that there are two people playing piano in this trailer.

I used to take care of a Yamaha like the one in the trailer, but not as big. They actually have built in microphones and a humidifier built in. I always thought it was odd to see LED lights on a piano.

Death am disappoint? The idea comes from the series. You have childrens playing instruments on the site of TV-25/26. That's why they gave everyone (besides Shinji) out-of-character musical talents, to connect instruments with instrumentality.

Also: will we eventually see (hear) "Fly Me To The Moon" on this piano? Maybe...
