Things that I'm very minorly annoyed by:
The English credits scroll too slowly, Dub cast credited as "Cast" and shown first with the Japanese cast being credited as "Japanese Cast" and not shown until like half way through it.

Things I really don't care about:
The stupid pointless rainbow effect getting removed.

Things I'm very much annoyed by: A post consisting of nothing more than a link and a disclaimer that there's nothing else to say. Come on, man. Summarize it for those of us who are currently unable to watch any cool vidyas on YouTube.

Ya know what? I was gonna stay silent about this, but I have so say it because this just bugs the hell out me.

Things I'm annoyed by: a topic dedicated to something VERY FEW PEOPLE CARE ABOUT!!! It's the freakin' credits! Why are we talking about something that has no affect on the ENJOYMENT of Rebuild?! I know it sounds like I'm ranting, but the existence of this just irritates and fascinates me! I mean... *shrug* Wow.... Just... wow.

I'm not hating on anybody. It just shows how little Funimation actually cared to credit the people that actually made the movie. Instead, they only credit themselves for the first half and then the key people involved for the second half. They don't even list the title of the song that's playing. I realize that most people will just blow this off and not care, but it's has to deal with respect for the individual.

I don't care if you think I'm stupid or petty that I'd nitpick something as low as the credits, but if I had helped create this, I'd want my name recognized by someone. It's also why filmmakers put additional scenes after the credits; they want you to stay. Whether or not you can read the names or not, you should still respect them.

In regards to the YouTube link, I removed the video because it was getting blocked due to the song. So I just deleted it and am now hosting it on my website. The file is 44MB and is double-wide SD.

My complaint is more "Not everyone can look at videos at any given moment." Sometimes you're just skimming the internet really quickly and need an actual complaint, like what you just put there to summarize the problem.

Well considering how much the Rebuild licenses have cost I can see them wanted to put their names on it first.

Joking aside, in my opinion though it should always be Japanese cast/crew first. If going last makes them feel that bad they could I guess do subtitled credits like...

Project Director - Hideaki Anno
ADR Director - Whoever directed the dub

Original Story / Screenplay - Hideaki Anno
English Language Script - Whoever did the dub script

On serious note, Funimation did something similar with the Summer Wars BD - I noticed it after watching it in Japanese with subs, so I can only assume they opted not to include the original Japanese credit reel at all.

So... I guess you're better off talking about something like this on the Funimation forums, as users/mods there might be able to tell you why it was done.

Well, it would make sense to put the names of ther english voice actors in there/ if you watched the dub, you technically didn't hear any work by the original voice actors at all.
The fact that they're mentioned at all is in itself a gesture of respect.

But... The Rainbow effect T~T
You can't have Rebuild without evangelion, that's like EoE without boobies!

To be honest, I don't care. The rainbow was cool and all, and I'm glad I saw it when it hit theaters, but it's not something I'm gonna fight for.

But, seriously guys. PIXAR credits are worth talking about, not NME credits.

My thoughts are with Tarnsman's.

As far as the rainbow credit reels--while I can understand that they weren't included after each film, they should have been included as an Extra or something. At the very least, I hope whenever Renewal Death/EoE would be released here, the Japanese Death and EoE credits (Sunset and DNA Helix credits) are included after each film or as an extra because those ARE works of art.

I'm pretty sure Funi's credits credited most major people involved. Sometimes credits are supplied by the Japanese license holder and they have to get approval from the Japanese license holder too so this is apparently fine.

As much as I'd of liked to see it go Japanese cast then English cast because the Japanese cast are the ones which created the show not the English cast but that's my personal opinion.

Nothing against the dub, I love the dub it's great.

Does it really matter? They're just credits. It's a minor thing and honestly isnt worth talking about since Funi does this with a lot of anime they licensed.

Plus Kendrix has a point. The English voice cast SHOULD be first, as they're the ones that an English dub features. This isn't like live-action; there are NO traces of a voice actor once you start dubbing over it. The Japanese voice cast being on at all is actually pretty decent! I could see other companies finding ways to not bother with that at all!

Ruining ending credits seems to be an endemic problem with Funimation. It's kind of bizarre how this giant licensing company completely freezes up whenever they encounter an ending sequence more complex than rolling text on a plain black background. What year is this, 1997?

As a translator, I find this infuriating because the solution is such a blatantly obvious one. Let the Japanese credits roll, and then add a separate English-language credit roll after them. It's a cheap, fast and effective method, and a lot of companies have used it in the past.

I'd urge Funi's American customers to send them constructive criticism regarding this terrible practice. That Mania thread seems to imply they do actually listen to legit complaints.

@Dr. Nick: You mean the same double credit treatment ADV, Mangle, and Bandai gives to some of their anime film releases? UGH!!! No thanks! I'd rather have standard rolling credits over that anyday. Thay treatment just feels really ugly and tacky to me.

All subtitles and on-screen translations are tacky by default, because extra material is dumped onto the original product. It's one of those things we just have to deal with.

I cannot see how you could oppose the system of two separate credit sequences, because it leaves the original sequence completely untouched. Obviously, it's not really worth doing if the original sequence is simply a standard, featureless credit roll over a black background, but if the original sequence contains bits of epilogue, omake material or any distinctly artistic visual choices, then it shouldn't be simply swapped out or clumsily edited, like Funi has done many, many times.
