Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

My brief reprieve is over. I received the specification document today for what the rest of my school project entails, and... I have to make a fully featured Angry Birds clone. :zer_sweatdrop: All the bird types, all the animations implemented, smoke rings, particle effects, rope joints... Only the enemy types are still limited to just the two (normal pig, helmet pig).

The level of fine-tuning that it took just to get what I already have... I have to do all that for all these extra features... in just 3 weeks!

:dumbells: I better get crackin'.

No. This should be a RML, dude. It's work, but it's awesome work.

:| It's not about the work, it's about the amount per time. Game development crunch time is legendarily devastating. Companies advertise to potential employees their devastation mitigation and compensation methods -- such as massage therapist visits, fitness reimbursements, even wheel-in meals.

Inside the Video Game Industry's Culture of Crunch Time wrote:“This is people coming in at 9. Working all day. Leaving 10, 11, 12, 1, depending what they were doing. And then coming back the next morning and doing it all over again, six to seven days a week. To my knowledge, five couples got a divorce because of this. Almost the entire creative leadership has now quit, after ship. It was toxic; it was a toxic environment.”

“My relationships became affected,” the developer said, “I became affected as a person. I wasn't sleeping, I wasn't eating very well. I was going out to drink a lot [sort of laughs] It was the only way to deal…[you start] shirking work, because you feel the anxiety. I'd wake up in the morning, and I'd be like, ‘Oh god I have to go to work. I do not want to get out of bed today, because I don't want to deal with this crap.’ Because if people on the ground are feeling this, it means the leads are feeling it, the execs are feeling it--and they push down harder and make it worse, you know?”

Even the most awesome work becomes life-draining when it gets to be too much.

^ and thats why if i ever get into the games industry i will always look for indie devs that are hiring before bigger or smaller companies, i can probably make an angry birds clone in a few days but with bigger games time crunches become just evil.

Not really cause lazy rose is lazy, i said i could, not that i want to XD

Seriously though don't sweat it dude, its simple enough to make so you should hit the deadline easily, the problem is when you get stressed about it cause then your mind goes "error game_development.exe has crashed would you like to file a report?"

Give me the assets and a couple of days and I'll have it done up, at least the basic functionality. Animation and shit isn't my strong suit.

C++, Box2D, and SFML/SDL/Allegro/Whatever-the-fuck-you-want is all that's really needed.

So now I've had to miss what adds up to approximately two days of work thanks to this damn infection. This will be fun to deal with when I get back. :irked:

I've got the Angry Birds assets, all you'd have to do is swap out birds for Rei heads at the last minute when whoever can get them to you.

Not one kid came tonight.
I had all this poisoned candy ready for the kids, what am I going to do with it now?

Halloween is cool and all, I just hate how these little shits think they deserve candy, but they're too fucking stupid to go one house over and actually get it. I could actually hear them saying "trick or treat" next door. This stuff isn't cheap either, it's like 8 - 10 dollars for a box. I don't even eat chocolate either, so it's going to go to waste unless I find someone shameless enough to take a whole box of chocolate. Next year, I'm going to make sure they come to my house, and I'm going to give them the most sugary candy in existence so they all type 2 diabetes just for spiting me.

I had no pumpkins or decorations up, which is probably why no kid came over for candy, but I was so busy with moving, unpacking and school, that I had no time for some pumpkin and fake spiderwebs.

There are several signatures I need to gather for a study abroad application, for which I need to make appointments. A few of these people are out for the week doing recruiting at other schools. Dark, slightly inconvenient times are ahead.

Since this strange American custom came to our shores some time in the last 20 years, I've always handed out fruit (usually including home grown apples). For the last few years, nobody has called, even if they go next door.

Even though I'm guaranteed to cringe at this post in the light of day, here goes:

So for Halloween weekend, my ex was in town. After some short-lived drama earlier in the year (*cough* his fault *cough*) we're on good terms now as friends but also kind of sort friends with benefits, sort of "If neither of us has any serious relationships when we see each other..." situation  I'm not going to get into potentially TMI territory because its not the FML part

So for my birthday my Mom got me a giftcard good for two tickets for a local dinner theater's production of "Spamalot". Considering she rolls her eyes at my nerdy interests, that she got me tickets to something Monty Python related was kind of a nice surprise. Since my IRL friends were oddly silent on wanting to go with me, I took my ex. Everything went pretty well, except I didn't know we had to call to reserve seats ahead of time so we ended up sharing with another table and two parties. The first party was an older couple and the second luckily didn't show. (we probably wouldn't have been see the show with them in the way anyway) My ex joked that wouldn't it be funny if [insert name of my OTHER ex that I haven't talked to in years] showed up as the other party but that didn't happen. Instead, somebody I didn't expect to see (or even be reminded of) walked right past our table (we were right near the Exit on the floor) with a girl.

Flashback to this July: I am at one of my friend's Dad's girlfriend's birthday and it was Monty Python and the Holy Grail themed so there were a lot of Python related activities. One of them was a trivia contest based on Holy Grail and I ended up getting the most questions right. The guy running it was really impressed and I was kind of twitterpated because hey: he was a cute guy and he was impressed with my Monty Python trivia skills, a thing I never thought would be useful, like EVER. Anyway, I (in my own, dumbshit way) ended up talking to him and he seemed interested (i.e. making eye contact with me and smiling at me and making me feel like a bashful idiot) As I got ready to go with my friends (I carpooled with them) he said "I like coffe? :)" sort of hopefully because he said he worked in a bookstore nearby and I said I might come by to visit. I was kind of like "Um...okay? -o-; " and my friends were kind of like patting me on the back because I'm such a wallflower and this guy seemed into me, which almost never happens either. I was over the moon for weeks but when I went to the bookstore, he was "busy" and sort of shrugging helplessly. I thought he'd get less busy later so I basically spent all day haunting him and pretending to read and ended up leaving without buying anything. (if you know anything about me, I lost on both counts that day) I tried again a little bit later but same thing. Even the cashier (an older guy who probably owned it) tried to help me get Trivia Guy's attention. Maybe he noticed how awkward I was being and tried to help me out (Bless that guy) but I got the same noncommital "busy" excuse but I got Trivia Guy's phone number. Because I was deathly afraid of coming off as desperate, I put off calling it and ended up not doing it, waiting for him to message me on Facebook when he would be less busy first. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

So when I saw him tonight, with a girl, it felt incredibly shitty. My ex knew vaguely how disappointed that the thing with Trivia Guy didn't go anywhere and how I took it. Bless him, he tried to cheer me up but I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, especially since we weren't at the table alone. It doesn't even matter if any of his theories end up being the truth (Trivia Guy's date is his sister, he's really gay, he probably has to pee with a pair of tweezers) the fact he didn't even bother telling me he wasn't interested. Sure, it'd be rejection but for god's sake, should I at least know if he wasn't interested? I'm sorry if I'm stupid or something but when he kept saying he was "busy"...I mean, I was inclined to believe him, at least for a while.

You're probably thinking "Its just one guy, its not a big deal" and that as well may be but god, it happens so often. I crush on a guy and it doesn't work out. Either he fucking ghosts me, (doesn't message back, doesn't call back, just disappears) he's already with somebody or he tries to let me down gently with the same "You're really cool and everything but I don't think I'm the right guy for you. I'm sure you'll make some guy very happy someday but its not me." GEE, THANKS.

I tried to enjoy the show but it just soured the whole thing. I drank way too much after-dinner coffee and just felt like garbage. :sniffle:

I know that feeling. Sometimes the ones that blow up on the runway can be just as bad as the ones that "get away".

It's official.

I'm turning into an old fuck at the age of 20.

I bought reading glasses. I can't read the ruby text in my Japanese textbook unless it's 10cm from my face. Nobody else has trouble with it, just me.

No, that's not how it goes. It's when you can no longer bring the text into focus when it's 10cm away (or indeed anything closer than arm's length).
