[Spoilers] Rebuild of Evangelion timeline
Hi everybody.
An interesting find:

I think it requires a separate thread.
Calendar shows month: February.
28 days, 28th is Wednesday.
Nearest years, when February has 28 days only and 28th is Wednesday are:
2001, 2007 and 2018.
It might be that creators just used 2007 calendar, but year 2018 tightly corresponds with the date when Yui vanished via Gendo's 14 year old plan.
That would mean pilots are older than 15 at least.
Why? Cause Shinji HAD mother, thus he was born before 2004.
OR
It's another reference of Rebuild being a continuation to the original series.
We strongly need to know Shinji's date of birth or his age and date the Second Impact has occured.
Any thoughts on the matter?

It's important to note that this 2018 calendar is probably canon, since the original series, on episode 09, the calendar used to mark the countdown days of the join-operation with Shinji and Asuka is correctly depited as September, 2015.
Not only the years has been changed, but the arrival of Asuka too.
What is strange tough, is that unless Yui Death birthday isn't altered, this mean episode 15 in the original series would have been already march 2016, since Shinji arrival is late August, early September 2015. It seens in 2.22 that Asuka arrives at Shinji homes in the same day as his mother death birthday, unless a gap of days is hidden betwen the Eva-02 X Clockiel Scene and the night that Asuka and Shinji meets at the mansion, witch i think is rather unlikey.
It is certain that Asuka arrival is later, compared to the RELATIVE original Eva chronology (Shinji arrival interval), but if the Yui death birthday is still the same, it will be even a big mistery related to the original development of Unit 01 and all the mistery involving the 4 Adamns, 4/5 Childs or eventually a true sequel theory.
Only time will let us know.

I FINALLY found that source from Newtype USA 2006!
So yeah, NME taking place sometime around 2018 instead of exactly in 2015 can still work, I'd say. Perhaps they changed the year for a reason: because 2015 is just around the corner in real life, relatively speaking.
Newtype USA 2006 wrote:"The new story takes place in the same period as the 1995 TV series, but the plot is completely different," producer Toshimichi Otsuki elaborates. "This isn't a remake or a quick fix. It's a totally new production."

I don´t believe that is the main reason.
Changing the on an adaptation of a futuristic sci-fi story only have meaning if its purpose is to make a convincing semi-realistic setting.
By the year eva was released the main focus of the series was the Second impact ocurring at the last year of the old millenia, it still hadn´t ocurred, still, in this new series they didn´t change the date of the second impact to a future from our current timeline (like 2012 or so), so i think the change in the timeline probably has some other meaning...
(Sequel theory! Sequel theory \o/ little troll, couldn´t resist!)
