Adams and the briefcase [SPOILERS!]

So after watching RoE 2.0 in a theatre the evening before, I've had even more "WTF?"than before watching the movie.
Like what was in the briefcase that Kaji gave to Gendo? It wasn't the Adam ebryo that's for sure!
And what's up with 4 Adams? I remember that they were also seen in the "Next episode" after the 1.0 ending. And they also apeared in Misato's flashback about 2I in 2.0.
Any guess is welcome, and sorry if this topic was disscused before, I just couldn't find it. :blush:
