Review of Tenku no Girlfriend 2nd

A very fun Evangelion computer game in which you play as Shinji in his alternate world that you see in episode 26(You know. When he asks what is he cabaple of?) Well, it is a very entertaining game.

Yui and Gendo are alive but they spend a lot of time at NERV so Shinji had to almost raise himself with Asuka who's parents also work at NERV.

It starts off when a "gaint of light" appears in Shinji's dream that the next day, Shinji's friend Kaworu mysteriously calls 'Adam' but then pretends he never said it. A new girl named Rei Ayanami comes to Shinji's school. That same day Shinji, Rei, Asuka, Touji, Kaworu(Yes, Kaworu is attending Shinji's school normally) and Kensuke are called into Nurse Akagi's office from Misato's class. After school, they are called over to NERV headquarters where they attempt to synconize with an Eva. Kaworu gets perfect syncrnazation which worries Kaji so he begins to investigate. Kaji soon discovers though that there are no traces of Kaworu ever existing.

Touji and Hikari begin dating and soon all the Eva pilots are thinking about love.

Both Rei and Asuka fall in love with Shinji(Go Shinji you lucky guy =p) And begin arguing with eachother. Shinji doesn't seem to notice it at all(That is so like Shinji.) Rei has a tendency of holding Shinji's hand unitentionally and Asuka has a tendancy of well... being Asuka. ^^

But the third angel, Sachiel, attacks and Rei get into Unit 000 to attack it. However, when Shinji finds out that his friends could get hurt in the Eva. He goes ballistic and offers that he pilot Unit 001 instead of Kaworu. A battle assumes between the Evas and the angel. But Rei gets seriously injured. Asuka gets worried for Shinji and offers to join the battle. But before she can get in Unit 002, Shinji destroys the angel. For the next long period of time, Shinji blames himself for Rei's horrible injuries. But miracously, Rei recovers.

There is a wierd rule at the school that if you have lunch alone with someone, it means that you are a couple together. Asuka uses this and asks Shinji to have lunch with her in a secret spot. Shinji not knowing this was a date invites Kensuke, Kaworu, Rei, Hikari and Touji. XD

Kaworu and Shinji often play music together and Kaworu had a concert the following day so Kaworu invited Shinji to play with him.

Touji gets mad at Asuka for reasons I forget and pushes her into a lake. Asuka is soaking wet and Shinji helps her up. The next day though, she is sick so Shinji skips school and watchs after Asuka knowing that he migh thave to miss Kaworu's concert.

After a bunch of cute scenes between Shinji and Asuka, when Shinji doesn't show up for Kaworu's concert, Rei who got all dressed up to impress Shinji gets upset. Rei calls Shinji and then from the Train station heads over to Asuka's house where Shinji is watching her. When Asuka sees Rei she gets mad. The next day when Shinji is going to school, he waits for Asuka as he often does but she doesn't show up. He goes to school and Asuka gives him the cold shoulder all day. At the end of the day, he and Asuka hang out at his house. They have dinner together and when Asuka asks Shinji about if he loves Rei, Shinji hesitates and says no. But this somehow upsets Asuka and she runs away. Shortly after that, the Eva pilots are called together.

The second angel Shamsiel is attacking. When Touji gets upset because Hikari is moving away, Shinji realizes that there is someone that he loves.

THis is my favourite part of the game: You choose who.


You choose wether you want to go out with either Asuka, Rei or Kaworu 0.o

I played through all three storylines(KAworu and Rei hesitantly I must admit) But being the Asuka fan I am. I shal post Asuka's first.

Life with Asuka is very cute. My favourite version of the game probally because I am an obsessive Asuka fan. Anyways, the story commesnses with you destroying the angels and slowly getting closer to Asuka, here are some piccies from the game:

Around the tenth angel or so, Shinji and Asuka will go on a date. After a day of shopping in the super market, having food and kindness my favourite two scenes will ensue:

Wait, then they sleep together?!? They're 14! What was Gainax thinking? Nah, it is actually my favourite scene in the game. It's just sooo cute.

In the end Kaworu ends up being the final angel. The sadness of Shinji being forced to kill Kaworu goes on and then Shinji and Asuka live happily ever after.

There a couple more funny scenes with Asuka. After battling one angel Shinji gets hurt and is the Hospital with Asuka by his bed. Kaji enters the room and says, "Check out these melons!"

It isn't as intresting as Rei or Asuka. Kaworu invites Shinji to have musiv lessons with him. Shinji agrees:

However, i do supose Yaoi fangirld rejoice... Personally, I don't mind a Shinji X Kaworu relation ship... Even though I prefer Shinji X Asuka... Wait, did I say that out loud? Then after all the angels but the one who should be Kaworu are defeated, Kaworu and Shinji play together in the a concert. Which was Kaworu's dream.

Sound 10/10 great audio all recordered by the original Japanese cast.

Visual 9/10 Many anime sequences that look like they could be in the show

Cameplay 9/10 if you enjoy dating sims and Evangelion you will enjoy this. Heck if you hate dating sims you will enjoy this.

Battles 7/10 The battles with the angels are just like, "Use progressive knife or Team up with Asuka" ect. You really feel like you are Shinji's mind though.

Replayablity 10/10

Overall: Neon Genisis Evangelion: Tenku no Girlfriend 2nd scores a perfect 18 angels out of 18.

If you liked Neon Genisis: Evangelion or even if you never saw it. This is a great game. It's fileld with it's own twists and turns that not even if you saw Evangelion 1000 times you would see coming. Just the plot itself is just as good if not better than the original Evangelion. And it's all brand new. The only thing that it lacks is Misato. She doesn't play much of a role in the game but besides that the game is a pretty much perfect game.

On the downside it only game out in Japan :( I was lucky enough to end up with an import.
