Yui Ikari: Sadist?

Its common knownledge for any ultimate Eva fan that Yui Ikari was trying to become one with Eva Unit-01 during the experiment that horried Shinji. She says that she wants to let Shinji see "how bright the future will be", but if she knew that the experiment would result in her absorbtion, why did she let Shinji watch? Did she think that letting three year old Shinji watch his only mother get taken away from him was a happy moment in her son's future? Or was she getting kicks out his torment?

Did you actually pay attention to the series? She wanted him to know she was there when the time was right. She did it so he, and everyone for that matter, would have a future.

But no, I don't think she is a sadist. She doesn't created a plan at all. If she does have a plan, Gendo and Shinji would be very much better prepare.

Anyway, I wonder that why Yui doesn't comfort Shinji before he goes killing everyone. Why does she have to appear after everyone is already dead?

I get that she was being aborbed for the greater good, but where does she get the right for showing her own son a tramua inducing sight of seeing his own mother getting absorbed? I can understand letting him know where she is, but did she have to let him know by letting him watch a horrifing sight like that? Couldn't she have left a note or have Kozo or Gendo tell him where she is? She didn't have to scare her son like that and leave a huge mental scar on him.

I'm not convinced that witnessing the absorption was what caused Shinji to be traumatised. True, he did forget for a while that he'd been there, but I put that down to him being too young rather than him repressing a bad memory. Even when he does remember it, all he really says about the incident is that "mother was smiling when...". We never see what happened, so we don't know a) what the absorption looked like; and b) how visible Yui was when it happened (i.e. was she underwater, in a plug etc), so we can't say how traumatic witnessing it would be.

I think that ultimately the thing that traumatised Shinji was the fact that his mother never came back, coupled with his father rejecting him immediately after. These things would have happened if Shinji had been present that day or not.

Not at all. You can see perfectly intact plant-life and whatnot no problem, and everyone is going to come back to life as the planet's ecosystem restores itself. The state we see Earth in at the end is only temporary.

But no, I don't think she is a sadist. She doesn't created a plan at all. If she does have a plan, Gendo and Shinji would be very much better prepare.

Be fair, what kind of plan should she make for being shoved in a giant robot?

I don't think she can manifest any time she wants, and even still, the tangification NEEDED to happen to preserve everyone's lives.

I'm not sure that everyone will be back, and less sure on the theory that the ecosystem may restore itself. The place that second impact occurred is still the way they are after the impact, wasn't it.

Don't misunderstand me, world is fucked up BAD after Third Impact. It's just there's no basis for thinking damage is permanent.
