The Seele members say that by taking Zeruel's S^2 into itself, Shogouki has "obtained the ultimate existence" and become a "living god".
Since we know that the Evas need the FoL to become like a god (EoE -- Fuyutsuki), this indicates that the S^2 is the FoL.

Also, the CI explicitly says that S^2 = FoL.

Okay so Yui was a God, but why wern't the Harpies ever referred to as such? And if they must not create a God then what are the Harpies? The CI isn't an end-all answer and leaves many questions unanswered. Also Fuyutsuki says with the FoL and the FoK EVA-01 is a God which happens after Kaworu/Adam appears so it's not all cut and dry.

The problem with that, Rawinder, is the Evas didn't come with them and Adam's natural kids did. If it was just a physical object why didn't cloning Adam give the Evas S² organs?

I think I had all of my issues with the Fruits outlined in my head at one point -- but at the moment there's just the nagging sense that things need to be fanwanked badly for good reasons that I can't precisely remember.

But that doesn't rightfully explain why they were so intent on harvesting a (more-or-less) intact sample of the organ from a dead Angel. Or why they would need to "install" the S2 Engines into the MP Eva Series instead of just refitting them with the required DNA to grow their own.
