So the Yuki-chan anime isn't KyoAni, but it sounds like the seiyuu are returning:

I second this thought ↓, from what I've heard of the Yuki-chan manga, things get interesting in a GOOD way  I'm excited for it now.

Satelight is rather good but they're no KyoAni in animation department.

Fuck KuoAni and their animation department that after the success of the The Disappearence of Haruhi Suzumiya they killed the franchise (always anime speaking.... not that the novel situation is any better lol).

Well, at least they have the decency to stop, instead of milking it into oblivion.

Kyon, what happened to your face?

He looks really unrecognisable. Pretty expressive faces, though.

The first episode premiers on April 4th, can't wait!

Jesus, Kyon looks weird  There is still hope that the concept art will not look identical to the anime

I don't think adapting the rest of the novels when there's so much demand for them would be anything approaching milking. I've heard they keep getting better, too.

Only 6 volumes? From a CDJapan email I got...

Unless it just means they have the dates for only the first 6 volumes so far? It's just 16 episodes though?

There will be an OVA bundled with the 9th manga volume, too, according to a wikipedia source.

I watched the first episode and i found it.... good! ( btw i am talking about The Disappearance Of Nagato Yuki-chan )

- Finally, after quite a long time we the characters again (with the same voice cast yay!)
- Animation is different from Haruhi series/movie but the team did a good work to not make it look completely chibi. The classroom especially at the beginning looks exactly like the one from Haruhi
- Most of the characters are feeling the same to me. Very curious to see how is Haruhi will turn out to be in this one. (i never read the manga)
- Yuki is adorable

So what do you guys think? Don't tell me i was the only one that i watched the first episode lol.

It was confirmed just before the anime started airing that this is going to be a 16 episode adaption with an OVA.

Wasn't the whole point of the movie the fact that this AU was deeply flawed and wrong and had to be fixed? I don't get the point of this series at all, but maybe I'm missing something. I'm glad Aya Hirano's back doing Haruhi though, even if in a reduced role.

Deeply and flawed for Kyon not for Nagato because otherwise the whole universe in Haruhi is wrong.

Truth is Kadokawa didn't cared about any of that and seeing how a ''normal and cute'' Nagato was appreciated by the fans they decided to make a spin off. Maybe i am missing something here too but i will spoiler it just in case

SPOILER: Show
i read that there are still some supernatural elements in the manga so maybe there is some kind of a better explanation

I couldn't get through the first Episode... It was too cheesy for me, and without all the wackiness that went on in the original series I'm not really hooked into watching more. But if people tell me it's worthwhile, I'll might look into it someday. I adore the overall look of the series though. So keep 'em updates coming, Dima!

I also didn't feel the wackiness part from Haruhi. Maybe you should check the second episode or see how you will like it with Haruhi around? I will continuing posting updates after each episode since it's the only show along Fate that i am watching so i will inform you when Haruhi or wackiness hits  .

Cute and funny episode! Loved all the references to the original series, etc. Pretty excited to see where this goes because of something pretty interesting* I've heard that happens later in the manga. (Haven't read it myself because I don't want to get spoiled on how things play out.)

I'm definitely hooked, and really hoping if this does well enough with its 16 episode + OVA that Japanese companies will take notice to give us Season 3 already!

*I'll spoiler tag it next post if anybody REALLY wants to know.

Yeah, no. Even the successful movie didn't give us a Season 3 and have passed 5 years since. I hate Kyoto Animation and i am surprised Kadokawa didn't give the rights of the other adaptions to a different studio until now (like what happened with the Fate series)

I hope Nagato-chan will change their minds soon.

I haven't watched the whole episode yet (time, not deliberate dropping it yet), but my main impression is meh.

The style and design are nice enough, but with a tendency to go sketchy when a character's not the focus of attention. There were moments when I recognised the old Kyon, both sound and appearance, but each time my thought was "well yes, and...?".

Essentially there's nothing pulling me in yet, as there should be at this stage - there's just not much happening.

I'm pretty sure the point in bringing back that universe is just to milk the franchise with fanservice since AU Nagato seems to have a farily large fanbase.

So far the series has been pretty meh for me, except the moments when haruhi is around, she always makes the show better. It's called the dissapearance of yuki chan though, so I'm wondering if this means something weird will happen to Nagato later in the series? I don't know if this is based off any of the books and even if it was I'm not keeping up with them so I have no idea what that might be about. Kinda hoping something interesting does happen to Nagato as the title implies and this isn't just a fanbase pandering series like it appears to be so far.

I gotta play serious catch-up with this show, but finally that episode/scene I long-ago heard about is here!

Seriously  SPOILER: Show
Can't wait to see how things turn out with original series Nagato being around!
