Any Info on End of Evangelion Behind the Scenes?

Lately I've really been curious about the production of EoE, and I've heard stories about things like the voice recording sessions, or various things going on with live action segments, but I'd really like to hear some firsthand or official accounts of things. If there is such a document, is there anywhere I could read it? Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

Bump. I'm kinda curious about this, too. Is there any first hand accounts of the behind the scenes of EoE? Even links to topics that have already discussed it would be fine.

There are only a couple tidbits of info that I know about this topic.

-The first is the generally well-known anecdote about how Anno, Ogata, and Miyamura couldn't figure out how the originally scripted final line by Asuka ("I'd hate to be killed by someone like you!"....or something similar) should be delivered. Anno suggested a bunch of things including Ogata physically strangling Miyamura in order to get a proper emotional response, but none of them were satisfied. Finally, Anno had an idea and asked Miyamura to imagine that a stranger was masturbating over her and she couldn't do anything about it. He asked her how she would feel in such a situation and she responded "Disgusting." Anno replied with something along the lines of "I thought as much," and that's how the final line came to be.

-The second is the deleted opening scene , which made it as far as the storyboard stage. In it, Toji and Kensuke are at the school basketball court while Shinji mopes in the background. Toji is in a wheelchair and shoots baskets while Kensuke films things with his camera. A conversation takes place about how they're all being transported away soon to Germany. Shinji remains silent throughout. Toji thanks Shinji for everything and him and Kensuke bid farewell to Shinji and that's basically the scene. It was probably cut because having Toji and/or Kensuke here would completely negate both how isolated Shinji is supposed to be at this point in the story as well as the bleak tone that sets the stage for the rest of the film.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

I remember reading about those two many months back, but does anyone else have any more info if there is some? Although I'm guessing they kept everything under wraps and behind closed doors, or at least for the most part.

I always loved that deleted scene. I understand how it wouldn't fit the tone of the rest of the movie, but I would've loved to see this as part of the original series. I remember wondering what exactly happened when Toji, Kensuke and Hikari had to leave.

Don't forget about the live-action mini-movie that was cut out of the 'end of your dream' bit. Toji and Asuka shacking up, who knew?

You can even watch it, if you look for it, as it was included as a bonus feature in the DVD release.

From Eva
Live Action Sequence
The live action scene near the end of the film was originally intended to be a much longer sequence with Megumi Hayashibara, Yuko Miyamura, and Kotono Mitsuishi portraying their characters from the series, ten years after the events of Evangelion. In this continuity, Shinji does not exist and Asuka has a sexual relationship with Toji Suzuhara. The sequence ends with Shinji's voice saying, "This isn't it, I am not here," proving it is a false reality much like the one he sees in Episode:26. The scene was left out for unknown reasons, but the footage is used in the film's theatrical trailer.

I don't have anything magnificent to add really except to say that I am too interested in more behind the scenes stuff for EoE and Evangelion in general.

The Renewal DVDs have some interesting things that were sadly left out of the Platinum releases.

Also, one of my favorite articles is about some items that were changed or left out from the End of Evangelion screenplays. http://wiki.evageeks.org/Resources:End_of_Evangelion_Screenplays

I've always been interested to see what was left out of the Show/What Changed/Etc. I had never seen the EoE Screenplay stuff before so it was very intriguing to see some of that stuff. It looks like the overall tone/ending might not have changed too much, I did always wonder if maybe there was a more 'positive ending' planned at one point or something else entirely.

I guess you could call Last A slightly more positive.

The films and stuff related to them; because Platinum is only the series as the films were licensed to a different company in the US/UK.

I actually forgot they would have had an effect on stuff related to EoE. But speaking of the devil, Manga Entertainment. I really hate that company. Just had to get that out there.

And because Kensuke and Toji are already gone by episode 24.
Shinji: "Sooner or later I'll be betrayed... And they'll leave me. Still... I want to meet them again, because I believe my feelings at that time were real."
Ryuko: "I'm gonna knock ya on your asses!"
-Asuka: THINK IN GERMAN!!! -Shinji: Öh... Baumkuchen...
Hayashida: "As game developers, our work is special. All of us here can put smiles on very many people's faces with our work."
