Wouldn't we have been hearing something about Rei's readings if all she was doing was being rejected? She was apparently doing something innocuous and unextraordinary. Either that, or everybody was too busy "ZOMG KAWORU" to notice anything weird about Rei.

Having two people link up to the same Eva at the same time isn't exactly standard procedure, either.

We can always chock it up to More Episode #24 Bullshit.

Now that you specify the problem -- it was poorly chosen phrasing on my part.

The Evas' connection to Adam is a horse that's beaten throughout the course of the series, sometimes with EVA-01 specifically as the recipient. (See e.g. the OP for one of my favorite examples.) Then along comes #25' and Keel's mysterious line -- but is that really enough to sever what's been built up so far, or just add another element (Lilith) to the intrigue? Plus, if cutting EVA-01 off from Adam was their goal, they weren't being very committed about it -- note the aural reference to Adam (@ 2I) when EVA-01 forms her wings, and, of course, her wings are Wings of Light, not the fleshy wings that Lilith manifests.

Hmm something funny just hit me. The Harpies are freaks, well beyond how they look. Their wings aren't wings of light, instead they have fleshy wings they generate, and they seemed really stretchy when they speared themselves. Things commonly attributed to Lilith. WTF are the Harpies?

They never really struck me as mechanical. I had always assumed they were an upper level Eva power like EVA-01's wings. The looked like they had feathers and such. It just struck me as odd that ZOMG their wings were like Lilith's.

There was an unusual impact buldge when she punched 13. Didn't see any of the other Harpies skin and armor acting like that so I guess it could have been for dramatic effect.

There's nothing to compare to Lilith here, at any rate, since her wings were fleshy, not feathery, and have structurally nothing in common with harpy wings.
