I got rid of the first two or so books (never read) the last time I actually attempted a cleanup operation in my room. Does that count?

The first thing that comes to mind is a Star trek: The Next Generation anime, because there are still a ton of stories that crew can tell but all the actors are gettin' old As an added bonus, each and every cast member has already done voice acting before (not sure about Gates McFadden tho... anyone know if she's done any voice work?).
Also: Coheed and Cambria. It's already a comic. It would be freaking epic, and they can just have the band do the soundtrack! (But someone other than Claudio would have to write the script... he's a great songwriter but he sucks at dialogue something fierce... ô_ô)

Idoru is being adapted into an anime, which I find amusing since about a quarter of the book is one of the main characters complaining about how much she hates anime. This is according to wikipedia, which also states that there are plans for live action versions of the other two books in that series as well as all of the sprawl trilogy and some more stuff from burning chrome, with each movie being handled by different directors. They all seem to be planned to be made simultaneously, too, which makes me wonder a bit. All the characters from the sprawl trilogy who appear in more than one book will be played by entirely different actors, and one of the characters from the bridge trilogy will end up being played by two actors AND be animated in the middle with a different VA.

Awesome, I'll definitely check that out when it gets made

That would be interesting. I'd imagine they'd do the whole movie in black and white up until the main character gets the ability to see things in color.
I'd imagine they'd also give it a satisfying ending.

If Eva Yojimbo were here, he would say: 2001.

I'd say the ending of The Giver is as satisfying as you will allow yourself to make it. Personally I thought it was bleak as hell, but others in my reading group (this was for school -ages- ago) thought it ended on a hopeful note, the silly bastards.
Oh, and has anyone mentioned Sandman yet?

I can't remember if i finished the book or stopped reading right before the last chapter.
God, Apparently you all have been discussing Q since November. Catching up on the discussion is harrowing.

I second the Ender's Game suggestion, though Orson Scott Card has gone down in my favourite authors list of late.
Another thing I'd like to see as an anime, or at least as an animated series, is Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series of books. Oh, and Mass Effect too!
Ah, and I almost forgot Chrono Trigger.

I agree, though I've never seen the original. I think DeLarge's ultraviolence could only be made more over-the-top if it were turned into an anime, and the same goes for the Ludovico process.
