But goddamn it...I just finished reading his complete Space Odyssey series yesterday! Well, maybe yesterday afternoon, but I was still reading 3001 when he passed!
That gentleman was far, far ahead of his times. Now the last of the "big three" science-fiction writers is no more, and an Era in Sci-Fi is officially and completely over.
What astronaut Frank Poole said in 3001: That for human beings, Love and Death are the most important in life.

Well, I might have been a little wrong about when he died, so I at least finished reading the Space Odyssey series before he passed away, but...like BobBQ said, he was a genius and he'll be sorely missed. I'll miss him even if I never knew him.
