Re: The Legend of Zelda series
lots of new info on TPHD!
http://gematsu.com/2016/02/legend-zelda ... -hero-mode
The screen on the gamepad will display the inventory screen, allowing you to manage items and transform without pausing the game. Nice.
A ghost lantern item has been added that glows when a poe is near.
The number of tears of light Link needs to collect will be reduced from 16 to 12.
Wallets will now hold more rupees.
Hero Mode is available from the start of the game and causes Link to take double the normal damage. There are no hearts laying around in this mode, and the world is mirrored (flipped like it was in the Wii version). In a sadistic twist, you can tap the Ganondorf amiibo on the gamepad while playing in Hero Mode to make Link take FOUR TIMES normal damage for the rest of the play session.

Re: The Legend of Zelda series
Interesting rumors: Next Zelda game will be launching for the Wii U and the NX, and has male and female Link option.
http://gematsu.com/2016/04/rumor-new-le ... nk-options
I really hope these are true, especially the latter.

Re: The Legend of Zelda series
Amongst Zelda fan this probably ain't the popular opinion but I hope the voice acting rumors are true. it's time I think they started and skyward sword was a game that had some pretty emotional dialogue and it would've been nice to hear instead of reading it.

I think Zelda's are better when they're light on story. Less forced dialogue, just exploring.

What, is Linkle really going to become a canon thing?
I don't really know how to feel about female Link as an option. There isn't really any reason not to have it, but it adds literally nothing to the experience other than a bit more immersion for female players.

YES. The absolute worst parts of modern Zelda games have to do with idiots in towns who are utterly helpless until some hero comes along to do their menial tasks for them.

You mean, like in pretty much every RPG ever designed? :P
I enjoyed Zelda's stories and never could complain about them. Just the endings sometimes sucked >.>

Re: The Legend of Zelda series
Meh, I really dislike stupid sidequests. Especially extremely tedious ones like gigantic fetch quests for something like "ooh, now I can carry more money like I should have been able to do from the start, yaaaaaaaaay."
I still have no idea whatsoever why people like OoT so much. I bought it for 3ds some time ago and just can't be bothered to play it anymore, too damn annoying.

Re: The Legend of Zelda series
OoT was the first Zelda I ever played. Tough by that age I couldn't understand a single thing about it XD
Years later I made a marathon playing every Zelda game I could find emulator for, from the very first to the TP (As far as I could emulate). And I felt satisfaction after each and every one of them (Well maybe not Link's Awakening. To esoteric for me). And i enjoy sidequests and distractions from main plot. It's a pleasant past time for me :P
Money quests are usually useless, but I still enjoy doing them for at least satisfaction of completing them.

Re: The Legend of Zelda series
@nemzi OoT something people forget to mention about it a lot in my opinion is that it has n't aged well. Back in 1998 it was amazing but if you are playing it today modern era for first time it's not the same since a lot stuff is now either cliche or out dated gameplay wise. So im not surprised you feel that way. My younger brother had similiar experience when beat it on 3ds. He was like I dont get it lol. Also I m okay with side quest. The way the games are set up make it so the side quest become part of the exploring.

Re: The Legend of Zelda series
I think so too. Don't get me wrong, it's still amazing considering the times it was first released, but 20 years later it's kinda outdated. It's still quite fun though, even without nostalgia goggles, and that an achievement on its own.
I really hope the New Zelda and FFXV impact the franchises same way OoT and FFVII did back then. After 20 years it's time to have new definitive J-Games.

Both OoT and MM haven't aged well, actually.

Majora's Mask has the advantage of a bullet proof atmosphere and unique game mechanic, though.

Re: The Legend of Zelda series
If by unique game mechanic you mean the time limit then i can't see how this makes it better, since the time limit was heavenly criticized back in the day (and it still does). Also when they say that ''a game haven't aged well'', it's because of the graphics (mostly) and gameplay, not about the story or atmosphere.

Re: The Legend of Zelda series
Majora's Mask has aged remarkably, what are you talking about? When I played MM3D around this time last year I was swept into it all over again after feeling like the last time I played it (on an N64 emulator) would be the last time. One year later after the time that was already one past the "last", I'm thinking about giving the game another run-through.

Re: The Legend of Zelda series
I was talking about the N64 version, in case i wasn't clear. Aside the Zelda games, for me many PS1/N64 games haven't aged so well.

Re: The Legend of Zelda series
That's true. There's something about low-poly graphics that just doesn't work anymore in most cases while even the most retro of sprites can still get the job done.
