That's such a tired and overused anime cliche. I know Eva assaults anime cliches but Rebuild is so contracted for time that would just be embracing the tired junk in the medium.

The new character is a Glasses Girl (well on te surface, at least), and you hope that they will keep things as uncliched as possible?

You can't subvert/poke fun at cliches without using them (i hope i don't come of as if i am trying to give a lecture).

Anyways, what really suggests to me that Shinji (or whoever) falling over on that pick with Asuka is a result of something other than physical intervention from the Second Child is that her pose is just off for someone who just smacked anothe person. She just seems to be gazing down at the person falling down being thoroughly unimpressed.

It just sort of adds up. Someone falling back in an area with fences, Asuka looking on with annoyance, and Mari searching for herglasses in and area with fences.

Also, that buttshot of Mari indicates to me that this will be the first time Shinji sees her (this whole stuff reminds me of the RiaO sequence from Episode 26). Shy boy meets clumsy girl.

Anyways, Asuka getting disposed of is a possibility, but if that happens, i hope she will have some truly badass moments in the film before biting it instead of beating up ocularly challenged girls.

Not only Asuka Anno's favorite character, but she's also one of Evangelion's most popular characters. If they killed her off, she'd come to be known as "the face that launched a million angry e-mails." Also, even if they were dumb enough to kill her off, it would be even dumber to kill her in the second movie of a planned 4-movie series.

Well, for one thing, i certainly can imagine that Anno wouldn't give a damn about fan opinions. He will tell the story he wants to tell, and that's that.
Maybe i'm naive, but i still hope that Rebuild is an artistic endeavour first and foremost, and not just another milking of the cashcow.

Only time will tell.

Yeah, but killing off Asuka (as in, for real) certainly isn't the only way to bring artistry to the project, nor would the shock value automatically make it a good option.

What I meant by "so soon" is yeah I could see a shitload of characters dying ala EoE in say, 3.0 (Kaji and Kaworu?) or 4.0 (everybody else that's lefted by means of TANGed!) , but nothing something as soon as the second film.

By the way (yeah this was mentioned much earlier by me, but it'd be fun to see if I'm right), when I said the Shinji face from episode 9 a few posts ago, I'm referring to this pic:

I meant to say, if they feel like the story requires her to be killed off, then they will do it, regardless of fan reactions. That they will not be concerned by possible outcries from fans, but tell the story they want to tell.

But, as i have said earlier, we know nothing. The possibilities are almost endless.

Has anyone noticed Shinji's eye's in SSD's rebuild picture? The way he's kinda looking out through the corners, its almost like he's responding to someone sleeping behind him.
