More Eva? (Recent news: "Rebuild" Newtype article)

Either way, I hope they don't call this a retcon since it appears to completely contradict the original series and therefore should be a separate canon on it's own, unrelated to the original.

(Not sure what episode, but it was the image from the opening. After Rei III showed up, I think.) There wasn't much scope for her reaction to him anyway, as she just seemed curious.
As for the other characters, other than Shinji, nobody really interacted with him or saw him. Misato probably didn't even have any interest in the school until Shinji showed up, and Toji, Kensuke and Hikari were long gone.
That's just my thoughts though. I love the AU concept anyway, so I'm cool with it all. I would have prefered an expansion on the actual canon, but... we may still see it yet.

First time poster here-
While the Rebuild concept is intriguing I am cocnerned about this comment.
BUT i'm not going to abandon any sense of hope for this project completely because of one comment from a producer (Which could so easily been misinterpreted).
It could very well mean the first minutes concern with establishing the characters position and schooling around the world before dropping in Angels.
Normally a comment like the one that producer made would worry me. But I can't get too worried knowing Hideaki Anno and Kazuya Tsurumaki are working on a project together AGAIN
They gave us Evangelion.

Everyone keeps ignoring a one of the "facts" that we "know" in order to become extremely paranoid over a random comment I made without thinking.
Just remember only 90 minutes of new content spread over 2 movies. I don't see AU from that at all. The onlything that is vaguely worrying me is the Eva Store intro dedicated to Shinji that lists him as the 1st CHILDREN... and seems to hint that there might be 8 in total.

More news from the Japanese web...Translation by Nao/Gilles:
1) The storyboard for the 1st movie (out of the 3 planned) is now complete.
2) The content of the 1st part (= movie ?) will mainly be what we saw in the TV series.
3) Hideaki Anno is currently writing the script of the 2nd part (= movie ?).
4) The whole Gainax studio is dedicating itself to Rebuild.
5) Even if it's always great to work on something new, they are especially pleased to work with Anno again
6) The girls will enjoy the scenes with Kaworu and Rei
7) The poster for the 1st movie will be school-oriented
8) Since the Shonen Ace magazine (which publishes the Evangelion manga) is aimed at a 14 years old audience, they wanted to insist on this school environment [technically, they say "university" but "school" seems better given the context]

What's this stuff about 8 children piloting? This sounds a bit dodgy to me, does anyone have more details on this? Is this a for sure thing?
